First goal wins this game. If the Hawks put one in early, the Canucks will start pressing and the crowd will turn on them. It could get ugly.

Then again, I can see the Canucks coming out in an elimination game and blowing the Hawks out.

Has anyone been reading Canucks message boards? Ive been checking the one they have at NHL.COM, and it is absolutely a riot to read. They are all claiming that the refs have given the Hawks the last 3 games, that there is a conspiracy to let the Hawks win, and they are calling for Bickell and Bolland to be suspended for their "illegal" hits yesterday. It's not just one poster either. They are all saying the same thing. It is quite a read.

Hawks fans after game 3?

Edit...I think this is pretty much how most hockey fans are when their team in losing. Wings fans (me included) were very much like this during the San Jose series last year

The illegal hits thing was valid (meaning Hawks fans were griping about it) after game 3, but I don't think anyone was complaining about not getting too enough penalties in game 3 as we had a crapload more time on the PP than Vancouver, including a 5 on 3. I think the general consensus from Hawks fans was that we blew a game where everything went our way except the scoreboard. Most people were depressed and because of the way they ended the season (not to mention the general feeling all season) and concentrated on how the Hawks just weren't good enough this year rather than blame other factors for why we were down 0-3.

I am assuming you are "cheering" for the Hawks tomorrow 1) to knock the presidents trophy out of the tournament and 2) to get home ice against nashville vs. going on the road to play San Jose?

If the Hawks can finish this, how much does it change the psychological feeling of being down 0-3. Last year, when you went down 0-3, you had the knowledge that a team has come back from that only 3 times in the 3 major sports to win the series. Basically it was over. Then the Flyers do it. OK, now that's 4, but still it happens very rarely, being down 0-3 is still a death sentence. I know when the Hawks went down 0-3, no part of me expected the Hawks to even get to game 7. To me the series was over.

But now, two years in a row, you start to think 'hey this can happen to us too.' You have 2 examples in back to back years of a team coming back. It gives confidence to teams that are down 0-3.

Canucks fans are stupid.

They are all bitching about the break in the action with just under 10 minutes left to clear up the ice. There aren't supposed to be TV timeouts in OT, and they think the refs just randomly granted one just for fun.

I thought these guys were supposed to know hockey? One the first stoppage of play after 10 minutes left in OT, the ice crew is supposed to come out and clean the ice. It happened last year in the Sharks-Hawks game (game 3, the game where Buff scored the game winner), so its not some brand new rule they just made up on the spot.

They also think the Hawks got away with murder in the game, but that's expected.

The 'Nuck fans are completely right to be ticked off about that. While that rule is not new, it was on a Hawks icing call and gave our tired line a chance to recover. Regardless, I'm stoked and I accepted the call from the 300 level to take that tv timeout.

Bickell had hand surgery today, out 6-8 weeks.

On ESPN1000, they said 3 weeks. Where did you hear 6-8?

Big blow as he was having a good series and giving us a physical presence.

Yeah but its the rule, whether it comes on an icing, the goalie covering up the puck or any other stoppage of play. They don't have a right to be pissed at the call. They can be pissed about their unfortunate luck that it happened to come right after a Hawks icing. I don't remember the play that led to the icing, but perhaps a Hawk knew this and purposely iced the puck to get a break, who knows.

Says full recovery in 6-8 weeks

Geez, that's a winger from left field.

That might be a bigger loss than it seems at first. I didn't like Bickell all that much during the regular season, but he found his role in this series. Bolland did a little. Seabs started to hit a little more after returning from being rattled himself. Campbell maybe.

We'll need someone else to lay big hits on Canucks.

Seems to be some differing reports:

http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Bieksa+bashing+Blackhawk+Bryan+Bickell+three+weeks/4672563/story.html

Chicago Blackhawks winger Bryan Bickell will be sidelined up to three weeks after undergoing wrist surgery Monday.

Bickell had surgery Monday morning to repair two tendons in his right wrist and was at home recovering when the Hawks flew to Vancouver for Game 7, a source said.

I am almost positive that no Chicago team has ever successfully come back from a 3-0 or 3-1 series deficit in any sport.

One Chicago team blew a 3-1 deficit, but we don't need to discuss that.

If the Hawks win the Wings will have a series against a non west coast team in the next round...which would be cool. However, the team that is remaining that I would most like to play is LA, but it is impossible for the Wings to play them. I think the best thing for me is for the Hawks and Sharks to win, then the Hawks beating the Sharks in round 2...with the Wings winning of course.

As for knocking out the Presidents Cup winner, I don't really care that much. The Presidents Cup winner is usually the best team in the worst division.

Either way, the "not nearlyas scary, still with somewhat of a mental block against Wings" Hawks knocking out a legit strong team like Vancouver would certainly be a good thing for the Red Wings cup chances.

I didn't even think about the fact that the Hawks could still face the Wings in the 2nd round should the Hawks win and LA win the series against SJ. SJ is up 3-2, but they are about to goto OT and LA will have 90 seconds of PP to start OT.

If Chicago wins and SJ wins...

(8) Chicago vs. (2) SJ

(3) Detroit vs. (5) Nashville

With SJ advancing, the Hawks can still face the same 3 opponents in the West as they did last season.

So much for that....San Jose kills off a 5 minute penalty and wins in OT.

If Chicago wins, its CHI/SJ and NAS/DET

If Vancouver wins, its NAS/VAN and DET/SJ

“I’m not sure how you explain that discrepancy, but we’re going to be very hard-pressed to win hockey games if throughout an entire series when the score is tight, they get 75 per cent more power plays than we do.

Stop committing penalties then.

I have a feeling the Hawks will be on the PK early and often tomorrow. It will have the same effect as the Pacers after game 1 about Derrick Rose.

Bad that I'm already dreaming of beating the same opponents as last year: VAN, SJ, NAS?

I love how they are getting behind the 'game 6 was a good thing, we played our best game' mantra.

-First of all, I personally think they played better in game 1.

-You cannot take losing game 6 as a good thing, no matter how awesome you played.

-If anything this series has shown that both teams have taken turns dominating play. The Canucks outplayed us in the first 2 games, the Hawks outplayed them in games 3-5, and Vancouver dominated in game 6. Does that mean you will play as well in game 6 for game 7? Not at all.

And yeah that entire thing reads like someone who is dumbfounded this series is still going on, and trying to sound confidence so that he can feel confident. Bottom line in, regardless of how you played in game 6, the net result was that a winner take all game 7 is now occuring. And you could outplay the Hawks in game 7 too, and you could lose again too. You put yourselves in the position where a lucky break, a mental gaffe, a stupid penalty can end your season. There is nothing good about that.
