7 points out of first, 17 games left.

That would be just the awesomest thing that has ever occured. I think we play Detroit 3 more times this year too, right?

For the sake of absurdity, if the Hawks winning streak continued through the end of the season, they'd equal last year's points total.

Hadn't even looked at how close they were to first until after last night's game. To even give Detroit a scare would be awesome.

I love matchups like tonight's game. I don't really consider myself a purist, but when the Hawks play teams like Toronto and Montreal, it just seems like a big game.

This is ridiculous. The CBC guys called them the Globetrotters. That's about the long and short of it these days.

Jesus, the thing is, they've whiffed on at least three other wide open nets. This keeper isn't long for this game.

Haha, Hawks play like crap for the first 12 minutes of the 2nd period, and boom, Kopecky snipes like he's wearing 88 not 82.

This is fun.

It's nice to see the Hawks leading the league in goals scored now too.

Without two months of Turco, we might be the top team in the West.

Second to Detroit, but yeah.

This team is weird. One week I think they could make a deep run in the playoffs and the next week I think they are missing the playoffs.

Did jersey get banned? He hasn't posted since the NFC title game?

Back on topic - nice start!

I think he's taking a break from the board at the moment. I think/hope he'll be back.

Wings have been below average the last 10. There really is no excuse except maybe complacency. I understand losing to the Sharks who are good and hot, but blowing a 3 goal lead to Phoenix and only scoring one against Anaheim is rather poor at this point of the season. I still feel rather comfortable that they will win the division since the Hawks have won 8 in a row while the Wings have lost 5 of 7 and the Hawks are still 6 behind.

Really, the only interesting thing about the Hawks being 6 back of the Wings now is that they technically control their own destiny for the division again (though the other 13 games will likely have more to say about it than the 3 h2h matchups).

Decent night for the Hawks, as the 3 teams tied for 9th place all with 75 points lost tonight. The Hawks are now even in games played with all 3 teams and up 5 points on them. 5 point cushion is pretty good considering 2 weeks ago we are around 4 points out of a playoffs. 5 points is not enough to completely relax, but its a decent cushion at this point. It probably doesn't matter because the Hawks don't seem to want to lose the rest of the year. :)

Calgary beat one of those teams, Nashville tonight, so they pull back to 1 point behind the Hawks for the 4th seed, although the Hawks have 2 games in hand over them. In terms of playoff matchups if we got the 4 seed, I would love to play the Flames in the first round. I feel like we still have a mental edge over them after the events of the last 2 seasons.

One more note...despite the offense having its struggles early in the season, the Hawks are 2nd in the NHL (not just the West) in goals

scored and only 1 behind Detroit for 1st. Although not nearly as dominant, they are 11th in the NHL in goals allowed, so above average at least.

Just read that Keith might have a fractured finger on his right hand. That's probably not good. There's no word on how much time he could miss, if at all.

I would imagine this type of injury could be no big deal (a few games) or really bad. Just don't know yet, and I doubt Q will be very forthcoming with the information. I suppose this would be an upper body injury?
