Also, what has Nady done to bat third?

.306/.404/.449 in August.

He's shown he is capable of hitting well, he's hitting well of late and he's one of the few remaining decent hitters on the team/in the lineup. Fukudome isn't in there. Colvin has cooled considerably. Soriano has had a rough second half and has sucked in August. I'm not sure what the problem is.

So that whole, "Colvin will play at first in Washington" statement was just something thrown out there or will he get the nod in the finale?

Sounds like something that mostly went out the window when Quade took over. They said that Colvin would continue to take grounders but that he would be played only sparingly at first for the rest of the year.

In the Dunn article, it mentioned that Quade ended the Colvin to 1B idea.

Didn't see the article 'til now. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, I just checked out the last month and didn't realize how well he actually was doing.

Zambrano has now pitched for six Cubs managers.

Don Baylor

Bruce Kimm

Dusty Baker

Lou Piniella

Alan Trammell

Mike Quade

Strictly speaking there's a 7th, Rene Lacheman (who served as interim manager for one day after Baylor was fired but before Kimm arrived).

1. Who the hell is that pitching for the Cubs tonight?

2. Lou must have told the players to not listen to Rudy Jaramillo. Now that Piniella is gone, Quade gave them the go ahead to finally start utilizing Rudy's batting tips.

Maybe you've spent too much time outside in that heat, eh?
