Understand that emotions are running high around here. There is profound disappointment with some of the remaining veterans over what has happened with this club.

He talking about the front office. Interesting comments. I wonder if they mean off the field or on the field or both. Which remaining veterans? Z, Aramis, Dempster, Soriano? Who else is left.

Z has pitched poorly and made an ass of himself, but it was done out of frustration for playing poorly

Aramis is an easy target, but he's been injured

Dempster has pitched pretty well

Soriano is as mild mannered as they come and hasn't played poorly, he's just played like he always has, inconsistently terrible with weeks of good to greatness.

Meanwhile, among everyone else there is profound disappointment with a front office that blew $146 million on a team that may well lose 95 games.

Players look at things alot differently than how we do, is my guess. They probably all agreed with Lou around the deadline that we just needed one hot streak to get back in it.......Granted, I think we were 8 under .500 at that time and we could all see the writing on the wall. But, it's not the players or the manager who make personnel decisions. Both the Lilly deal and the Lee deal can help this organization in the future. Lilly and Lee could not and we weren't going anywhere this year.

I'm all for these moves, but as discussed in other forums, if we're going go to this way, the Cubs need to commit more to the draft and more to international free agency, to prove it to us.

Sadly, a lot of these guys will be with the Cubs for several seasons. Soriano isn't going to get any better and at this point I don't think any manager or GM can count on Zambrano.

I guess one of the things I take away is the general lack of accountability by the FO.

It is probably mostly Dempster complaining. He was griping after they traded Lilly and Theriot so this Lee move can't be making him very happy. If I recall correctly was pushing for his buddy Millar in the spring to make the team. I would tend to that think he believes that the way to build a winning team is with veterans and good clubhouse guys so there is no way he is going to agree with these moves.

Well that's awfully unclear.

Is there "profound disappointment" that key vets are being sold off when they shouldn't be?

Or "profound disappointment" that they've sucked so much that the only logical course is to sell off key vets?

Doesn't deserve to bitch

Aramis is an easy target, but he's been injured

If so, he can opt out if he wants after this season.

Dempster has pitched pretty well

Should be smart enough to realize this team sucks and has actually completely given up with 2 months to play. Also should realize that Lee and Lilly were gone after the season and Theriot sucks.

Soriano is as mild mannered as they come and hasn't played poorly, he's just played like he always has, inconsistently terrible with weeks of good to greatness.

Can't complain as long as he's making $18 million for 4 more seasons.

I read it as the front office is disappointed in the veterans who are still there.

I read it that the veterans who are still here are profoundly disappointed with the season. As with davearm, I'm not sure if they're disappointed in selling off vets or disappointed in sucking.

I'm profoundly disappointed that this team played like [expletive] this season. Oh well.

Try the past few seasons counting the horrific playoff showings and I'm with you.
