LaRue probably should've stopped playing baseball a long time ago since he's terrible at it

anybody who is able to make a career out of playing baseball at the major league level is really good at baseball. like, elite at baseball.

That and Jason LaRue is terrible at baseball and proabably should've quit years ago

not hyperbole at all. he may suck relative to the rest of MLB, but relative to all baseball players in the world, he's awesome. what percentage of players trying to make it to the majors actually ever make it? he not only made it, but was able to keep a job for several years

My dead grandfather is better at baseball than Jason LaRue

look everyone knows that when we say a player is awful or terrible or completely sucks, we're not talking about him relative to minor league players, little leaguers, accountants, etc. it's relative to their peers in major league baseball. or do we really have to qualify every statement about a player's ability?

"you know, casey coleman has a really poor fastball relative to the rest of the pitchers in major league baseball, but if you saw him throwing in the upper 80s at a county fair fast-pitch booth he'd almost certainly have the best arm there."

I know we like to refer to players as being "bad at baseball", bit if it were true, they wouldnt be where they are. You dont make it to the big leagues on accident, be it Albert Pujols or Bobby Scales. Look at guys who crush minor league pitching, but cant do squat at the big league level. Send them to Japan, they could become superstars. This is because Major League Baseball is where the best players in the world come to play. end of story.

why are you completely ignoring the context?

that was the initial comment. why should jason larue quit playing baseball even though he still was getting paid to play at the major league level? he may not be as good as others at that level, but it's still a pretty huge accomplishment to even be there.

so yeah, saying that a player who is below average at the major league level should quit because he "sucks" doesn't really make sense. in the context relevant to this conversation, jason larue is a great baseball player.
