lets blow up the team

with lou leaving and before a new manager arrives

get rid of lee, trade( i know he will turn it down) him, cut him,

now ramirez he now has a extensive history of injuries, trade him to a contender,

Soriano, has been bad and getting worse, none of the top three will never be as productive as when they were younger, lets start new..

Keep a small group, bird, castro, soto, colvin, and build around them, I haven't said anything about the pitchers, leave them intact for now.

new manager, new team, cheaper team.....I am Larry

not trying to start anything new, just tired of watching our big three striking out at critical times while not reaching out for help, lee stated he knows his swing better than everyone else and doesn't need help, he also vetoed a trade so here we are, a team needing leadership and instead we have old players getting older, and leading us nowhere. we just need to clean house and play younger players who have something to prove.

we need leadership by action, on the field, coming thru in the clutch, Lee, soriano and ramirez aren't giving us that leadership, striking out or soft ground balls, swinging at the pitchers pitch, one question was leadership from where, the older or younger players.

whom ever steps up, now when we have runners in scoring position, I cringe when soriano comes up, or lee, but I fell much better when castro or soto comes up, they just seem to get good at bats, and do not worry about Cub fans, the best fans in baseball, they would arrive in droves even if we played AA players.

this year or next we will have to replace players anyway, all I am saying is do it now.

First, it's kind of obvious the Cubs aren't going anywhere this season. While we're all tired of seeing this year's failures, I don't see the point of benching Ramirez, Lee, or Soriano. Ramirez and Soriano will return next year, so you don't want to insult them by benching them. As for Lee, the Cubs don't have any young player to replace him with. Also, mistreating Lee (by benching or DFAing him) would be a PR nightmare. Other players and their agents would note the mistreatment of a "class act" and consider that when thinking about signing with the Cubs. The best that we can hope for is moving Lee out of the 3rd spot in the lineup.

As good as Soto and Castro have been this year, Soriano has the 4th best OPS on the team. He's having a nice season as well.

4th best is no accomplishment, and a low 800's OPS is not nice for Soriano.

It's certainly good enough to not call for him to be benched, which was primarily my point. It's also a significant jump over last year's massive disappointment and it's right in line with his career OPS. It's nothing to get excited about, but for Soriano it's decent.

Yes! Let's trade a big bunch of players who all have no trade clauses. We will be able to force them on another team, and not have to pay huge chunks of salary, and will get massive returns on high quality prospects.

all jokes aside, these players are making multi millions and playing like they don't have a care in the world. they are getting older and playing like it, soriano is bad, bad defense, strikes out with men is scoring position, they are tired and playing like it, but as I am not in charge I guess we will have to put up them forever, until we can't get anything for them. don't mind me, I am just tired of multi millionaires leaving runs on base

I don't necessarily think it's lack of effort (although they're not busting their asses out there, I don't think they're half-assing it either) moreso a lack of talent and some very very bad contracts.

Lee is gone after this year. Fukudome is gone. We've got Castro, Soto, Cashner, Marmol, Colvin, etc as a good young core. Things will be ok, dude. Chill.

We'll have a new manager, and if there's a God a new GM, and hopefully a new organizational philosophy.

I don't understand the focus on Soriano. Yes, he has a terrible contract, but why are you singling him out like he's having a bad year or hurting the team? With runners on base he's hitting .285 .333 .570 .903. Sure his overall RISP scoring numbers aren't idea, but .256 .330 .449 .778 is pretty far from the end of the world, and with just one runner on either 2nd or 3rd he's OPSing over 1.100. Yes, he's obviously overpaid, but he's still very valuable to this team.

No he's not.
