I played the "Read the game thread and then try to guess the score of the game" game. I guessed the game was like 11-1. Surprised when I saw it was only 5-2.

Feel better now? :banghead:

He sure as hell doesn't look any better !!

Lol I'm so glad I'm not watching this game. The stupid ESPN text alerts are cramming up my inbox, though.

According to Brenly, 14 batters have gone to the plate this inning with 2 outs. Amazing. At this point, bring in Zambrano, have him hit a couple, and lets see a brawl. Almost a grand slam there

I'm waiting for a Major League 2 scenario where the Cubs just start beating the crap out of each other and the umps call the game......

Another classic outing by Dempster tonight. I’m sure it’s not his fault because

a) It’s Coors. It’s a band box! They scored 17 runs so it has to be a band box! And all the walks can be blamed on gravitational differences at high elevations.

b) Russell pitched great: 2 innings, 3 K’s, no ERs, but the one hit allowed was in one of those Inherited Runners Situations, and, poor Dempster, let down by the bullpen again…

Dempster ISN’T terrible. What he is, is quite mediocre. What makes him terrible is he is treated (by some) as something far better than that. He and the Cubs would still be best served if he were left in Colorado when the team leaves on Sunday. I might leave him bus fare.

Too bad about Cashner. He looks to have hit a wall. Hopefully, he's not injured, but it looks like he needs a break, possibly back in the minors. Whatever way, they need to do something so that doesn't end up duplicating Samardzija who soared high, and fell even farther, out of the box.

Sean Marshall cannot pitch in Colorado.

Career numbers at Coors:

5 G, 2 GS, 8.1 IP, 16 H, 3 BB, 11 ER, 11.88 ERA, 2.28 WHIP

He had a "meh" start in his first appearance at Coors (5 IP 3 R, 6 H, 2 BB), and since then his other 4 appearances (including another start last year) 3.1 IP 8 ER, 10 H, 1 BB, 21.60 ERA, 3.55 WHIP. His breaking ball just doesn't break here.

No excuses for giving up 5 runs in an inning that eventually plated 12 but still.

YES!!!! It's YOU! And you've put the blame on Dempster for 17 runs scored!

If he isn't terrible there are a ton of players who ARE terrible who should be left in Colorado before Dempster

Apparently the Rockies set a major league record by getting a hit 11 batters in a row. Glad we could take part in history tonight.

Apparently it was also the highest scoring inning in Rockies' history. That surprised me a bit; playing in Coors Field I would have thought they would have had a few gigantic innings, especially in the days of Larry Walker, Dante Bichette, etc.

The eighth inning looked like one of the Cubs' best this year.
