What are the odds Diamond gets a shot at the rotation after Lilly gets traded?

I would hope very good.

Diamond has had a very good year down at AAA. He is incredibly talented.

I would definitely give Diamond a shot before Jay Jackson, which may not be popular here.

Diamond has had a pretty iffy July so far while Jay Jackson has had an eh month, not bad, not good. On the plus side for Jay, his K rate is up after dipping in June, and there hasn't been any substantial changes to the walk rate, so here's hoping he's found something. The HR rate is also down for the month as well.

I'd probably go Diamond right now as well, more to give Jay some more time in the minors to work on things.

I definitely would if only because JJax still looks like he could use some more time in AAA, although I wouldn't be upset to have him under the instruction of Rothschild.

There's a part of me that does wonder if Jay coming up to get tutored by LR would be a positive, as LR, unless I'm brain-dead right now, has been recognized for his ability to work with pitchers on improving their sliders.

Canzler smacks another homer. That makes 13 on the season, with 18 doubles and 2 triples in 217 AB's so far. Will be interesting how he finishes the season defensively - I think he'll likely get the bulk of PT at 3rd in AA. IIRC, the reports on his defense at 3rd were choppy, but not horrible. No idea what to make of the guy, but he's really trying to force some attention to turn his way.

Id love to give Diamond or Jackson the shot, despite Jacksons awful summer, but Ill be shocked if Z doesnt get the spot if/when Lilly is traded.

Another homer for Canzler. The ISOP has to be fairly ridiculous - gotta be around .280 or something right now. Brett's having a decent day - 1/2, 1 R, 1 BB so far. 2/3 for Campana so far. Muschko his usual self - good control, give up a couple runs. I still like him enough as an end of the rotation arm.

Not surprising, but Rhee runs into trouble in the 4th.

10 game hit streak for Lee. Sczcur is having a great day - double/triple, run, rbi

Ronny Morla is having himself a fairly solid season. I still wish the Cubs would give him a spin in the rotation. He is eligible for Rule 5, and it seems fairly unlikely that he'll get protected at this moment, IMO.

Keep him fresh for his call-up.

it's also very unlikely that he'd get picked.
