Trevor Cahill, RHP (5-2, 2.91)

Athletics (32-33)

@

Carlos Zambrano, RHP (2-4, 6.05)

Cubs (28-35)

Athletics: Cahill turned in one of the finest performances of his career in his last start, a 6-1 win over the Angels. The 22-year-old right-hander tossed a career-high eight innings, allowing an earned run on six hits and a walk while striking out four. Since taking over for an injured Justin Duchscherer in Oakland's rotation, Cahill has proved to be one of the A's most consistent pitchers. He's thrown a quality start in each of his last six outings, going 4-1 with a 2.25 ERA in that span.

Cubs: Zambrano gave up two hits in five innings in his last start against the Brewers but he also walked five. He was pulled after throwing 88 pitches. It was his second start since returning to the rotation after 13 relief appearances. The Cubs are hoping that with more starts, he'll improve his command. He has faced the Athletics once, and that was in 2004. So far this season. Zambrano is 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA at home and 2-3 with a 6.91 ERA on the road. Those numbers include his relief appearances.

Bold prediction: the Cubs start a 9-game winning streak tonight. LET IT BE SO.

Since they won Sunday, this would be game 2 of the streak.

Well played, sir.

Hill starting again, this is unreal. Itd be nice if a member of the Chicago media would grow a pair and question him.

"What do you want me to do?" Piniella yelled at the reporter. "I just want to get out of this hell hole!"

At what point does Soto get his agent to call up Hendry and demand a trade? Because apparently Koyie Hills is the Cubs "catcher of the present and future" despite sucking at what he does for a living. There is no justification for keep playing your backup catcher. You don't see the Braves play David Ross over Brian McCann. Or the Twins Wilson Ramos over Joe Mauer. So why do the Lou keeps putting in Hill behind the plate when he sucks?

Here's hoping Hill gets a day off

He just got one yesterday, how much rest do you think he could use?

I'd say something like 125-130 games

Soto has absolutely zero leverage and to compare Soto to Joe Mauer or McCann is a joke.

So CSN cuts to the White Sox game against the Pirates for the rain delay. Their announcers hear this and immediately start laughing about how the Pirates only have a winning record against one team.

I AM NOT COMPARING TALENTS, MIND YOU, what I am saying is teams do not constantly start backup catchers over their "perceived" starting coachers. Especially if the starter is significantly better then the backup which Soto is. You took it the wrong way.

Soto has gotten 70% of the teams PA's at catcher.

McCann has gotten 75% of the Braves.

McCann was also injured for about a week. And the point still remains Hill has no business starting as much as he has over the last 3 weeks.

I think Soto is pretty overrated, and even I'm getting baffled at this point. A day off here and there yea, but man.

Id love to hear how Soto is overrated.

I feel bad for Fontenot and Soto
