So we have Oakland next then? Damn. So whose on that team anyway besides Wuertz? Are Walt Weise or Terry Steinbach still there? All kidding aside, its one of those teams where nobodys ever heard of a any of them but the Cubs still cant beat them.

Disappointing to see the no-hitter broken up by Juan Pierre, but better him with 0 outs than Alexei with 2 outs. I'm just glad it was a solid single and not a bunt, bloop, or worse yet a Jim Joyce part 2. Lilly has really been fantastic ever since he has gotten here.

Oh and how did we not lose that game? The Sox having guys on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and failing to score was Cub-like. The Reds and Cards both lost today, so take the day off tomorrow and try to win another game Tuesday, and then another, etc.

Man, I envy those who have been able to give up on the season already. But I think I'm going to set 10 GB of the division as the mark for when I officially stop caring.

Make no mistake, that's very sox-like.

Yeah, the biggest reason we didn't get beat is because the Sox are also not a very good baseball team.

The word you're looking for is "Marmol-like." Though he induced some popups, rather than knee-buckling strikeouts, so maybe he's slipping.

One of those games where it wasn't the better team that won, but rather the team that sucked less.

After an uncharacteristic slug fest on Friday, both team showed their true colors on Saturday and Sunday. I still say that if Fukudome was in RF Saturday afternoon, the Cubs win 1-0.

Also, while I didnt like the move at the time, walking Rios with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out was the right move. Rios was a lot more likely to, if nothing else hit one into the outfield and drive in the tying run while Konerko and Quentin are much more free swingers who probably dont have a chance at making solid contact vs. Marmol.

Even though the move worked, it definitely wasn't the right move. Walking the bases loaded with a guy like Marmol who struggles to find the zone at times, isn't smart. Considering Marmol has a K rate of 17 hitters per 9, Id rather take my chances with 1st base empty then put Marmol in a spot that he has to throw strikes. Its about knowing your personnel, and personally Id trust Marmol getting any hitter in the majors out a lot more than Id trust him to not hit or walk a guy if the bases were loaded.
