The D’Backs will consider trading anyone but Justin Upton and Ian Kennedy, as they evaluate the best way to turn the team around, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com. Heyman hears that owner Ken Kendrick, president Derrick Hall and GM Josh Byrnes are in the midst of meetings to determine the best course of action for the 24-37 team. Last week, Hall told the Arizona Republic that he was open to changes given the club’s disappointing start.

Upton and Kennedy will not be dealt, and Mark Reynolds is likely to stay, but the D’Backs would consider moving others. They would listen on Dan Haren, though the club might prefer to keep him if they believe they can contend in the near future. Adam LaRoche and Kelly Johnson are possible trade candidates for GM Josh Byrnes, who admits he has to consider trades.

Byrnes has been fighting hard to keep manager A.J. Hinch around, according to Heyman. Hinch, who had never managed before taking over the club last year, does not make a seven-figure salary, so the D’Backs could fire him without having to absorb too much money. And the man who hired Hinch? Heyman reports that no one realistically expects Byrnes to be in the line of fire.

I know he's been having a down year, but I would love to pry Reynolds away and stick him at first base if we trade Lee (which probably isn't happening). I'd be too afraid at what JH would give up, though.

Not happening, but I'd love to buy low on Haren. More realistically, Conor Jackson would be interesting. He's been bad for a couple of years now, but a lot of that could be bad luck - he's posted BABIPs of .207 and .270 while having LD%s of 18.1 and 26.8.

He could come relatively cheap and be a stopgap type guy at first base potentially.

Reynolds is good if you like a feast or famine player. His strikeouts totals are absolutely ridiculous. That said, he hits a ton of homers and draws a decent amount of walks. I'd definitely be interested.

You know someone who we could buy really low on is Brandon Webb.

That said, I am not really sure we should be trying to acquire veterans with even moderate contracts.

If defintiely like to give Connor Jackson or Alex Gordon a shot at 1B next year and maybe part of this year to see what they can do before Prince Fielder and Adrian Gonzalez become FAs after 2011.

The real question to ask is whether Reynolds or Jackson are willing to listen to the hitting coach or do they think they can fix themselves.

Why is that the real question? Oh yea, because the idiots in the Chicago media(Im looking at you Kaplan and Sullivan) like to make up stuff with no real factual proof?

Report: A's deal for Arizona's Conor Jackson

Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports that the A's have acquired Conor Jackson from the Diamondbacks for minor league pitcher Sam Demel.

One guy they have that would be very usefull for us is Kelly Johnson. At .271/.374/.526 and 13 HR, hes probably playing well over his head, but Id take him over Theriot, Fontenot, or Baker any day. The big downside is that hes on a 1 year 2+ mil deal, giving the D Backs all the leverage in the world over any team trying to aquire him, and he is the perfect example of the type of player Hendry would be likely to well overpay for if he thought that he might have a small chance of weaseling back into contention. Then again, aside from the Pierre trade, Hendry hasnt made any awful trades like that, so the biggest would be if we traded for him and then give him a 4 year/75 mil deal with an NTC.

lol @ people calling for Jackson from Arizona when he played an entire series against us earlier in the week with Oakland.

Jackson was literally traded the day before our series with the A's, and those posts are from before then.
