Good, they're going directly to the conference call now. This should move much, much faster.

It should be like this for all the picks...

Agreed.

I think MLB would be better served having the studio show start half an hour after the draft begins. They can take their time in analyzing guys who have already been selected and do some research, rather than scramble for information and pull random cliches out of their rear ends.

Have either Dan Klein or Rob Rasmussen been drafted yet?

Rasmussen was for sure. Don't think Klein has been.

Edit: Oops, didn't see that with Klein.

Incidently, Hahn goes off the board to the Rays. :banghead:

They shouldn't ask Hart whether or not he likes a pick or not since he likes every pick regardless if he's ever heard of the guy.

Pittsburgh jumped the gun at the start of the 8th round, trying to pick ahead of Washington. The guy running the conference call got snarky with them, which was pretty funny.

Yes, both have been drafted. Rasmussen (#73 overall) went before Klein (#85 overall).

Thank you.

Rounding out the 18th, the Rangers took Oklahoma's top offensive player, third baseman Garrett Buechele, the son of the ex-big leaguer Steve Buechele.

Rhoderick's a nice arm. Has good movement on his pitches, IIRC. Some issues, but his arm is good.

Overall, it's sort of an eh draft. Not bad (I was okay with Simpson, liked the gamble on Golden, like the Gibbs pick. Rest is intriguing enough.

I am really hoping that Hartman, Cox, Pinckard sign. I am dreaming that we can get Geiger signed, along with Strieby (Ryan's little brother). Both would add some intriguing positional assets to the system.

out of curiosity,, anyone have any idea who Wilken is referencing when he says that he lost some guys in recent years, and as such, he decided to go BPA and Hayden?

With the draft at an end, use this thread going forward to report on other teams' signings, discuss excessive signing bonuses, talk about the ones who get away, etc.
