I was on the road, so I had the entire site account suspended from the server for the bulk of the day while I worked with the hosting company to assess the damage.

okay, that's bizarre.

 

I loaded an entirely new template (Dominion, which looks incredible, btw) and the buttons still don't show on that style.

 

So it's obviously something in the main code that's messed up instead of the individual styles, even though one style works properly.

 

I hate software!
