A random story while watching another uninispiring Cub effort.

During the 2007 Cubs Convention (Lou's first) my buddy asked him a question about fundamentals and giving a complete effort when players have guaranteed contracts. Lou's response was "My teams are sound fundamentally and will hustle. That won't be an issue. And although they have guaranteed contracts, I have the pencil and make out the line-up card."

I think about that quote from Lou quite often.

this is about as hopeless I have ever felt about the Cubs.

I can only assume you've been in a coma then for most for the rest of your life.

Bad luck for Geo tonight, two balls crushed to center. That was a nice play by Maybin.

I have the pleasure of going to the game tomorrow with some friends from work. I guess it will be Koyie Hill time because of a day game after a night game, even though the Cubs have Thursday off.

I'm feeling good about my decision to follow the minors closely for the first time ever.

I'd like to enjoy baseball a bit.

What the [expletive] was that, Wells? Bunt the [expletive] ball, you [expletive] [expletive].

Was it supposed to be a hit and run?

With the pitcher?

Breaking it down, this is worse than 2009, not nearly as bad as 2006, about as bad as June 2005 but I was more hopeful about the future then, and worse than any other year since I moved back to Chicago in 2001 (I loved the future of the 2002 team). If he's about 20, it's not that ridiculous.

There's always been a sliver of hope when the Cubs are struggling like they currently are, but I am just hopeless about the current team. There doesn't seem to be any direction for the team.

So yes, forgive me for finally admitting that it is hopeless to follow the Cubs.

Pre-2003 this team was hopeless waaaaaaaaaaaay more often than not. I swear, someone would have to be like 10 to look at this as being as low as they can go. Edited by Sammy Sofa

But IMO they were comically bad, so I could laugh, this team doesn't provide any entertaining or redeemin g feature. They are boring and bad.
