I think there's like a .0000001% chance Fisher signs with the Heat. The only chance would be if it turned out his daughter didn't need that doctor in LA anymore, and I still don't think he would do it. It's Phil Jackson's last season, Kobe's attempt at #6 (to tie Jordan), and their chance together at a second three-peat. He's not leaving. He's just trying to get more out of the Lakers.

Yeah. Kobe saying they need Fisher back (regardless of whether he's actually right or not) is what will get the deal done. I expect him to be in LA next year.

RedFlash are you going to answer the question of what the "real story" was on Fisher leaving Utah?

Think Dwayne Wade....but take it a notch.

Well Wade's divorced and Fisher isn't so I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this.

Fisher is one of the nicest guys in the NBA.

RedFlash, can't you stop being a homer for even one second?

I think I know the story RedFlash is talking about. Apparently back when Fisher was a member of the Jazz he asked the owner, who has since passed, to let him out of his contract due to the condition of his daughter. Fisher wanted to be near certain doctors that LA has that Utah doesn't. Utah decided to let him go so he can be with his family. So Fisher signs with the Lakers and exactly one month after he signs, his daughter was cure of the cancer. Fisher had made it seem that his daughter condition was in dire straights, when in reality by the time he got to LA, he's daughter was already beating back the cancer she had. Apparently Utah would not have let him out of his contract if they knew his daughter was in better condition then Fisher had mention.

I don't know if that is what Red heard, who knows, but that is the story that I had heard through different websites I frequent. I don't know if it's true or not, but if it is, the man is as dispicable as Dwyane Wade, if he use his daughters' condition (making her condition worse then previously thought) to get out of Utah because he didn't want to be there anymore. I don't think it's true, to be honest, but that is something I've read on certain sites. So take it for what it's worth.

Been lurking for awhile, and I do agree that RedFlash is definately a homer. But I do believe if he comes down off his high horse once in awhile he could see that there is fault in his logic.

Lebron won't age all that gracefully either unless he gets his butt in the post (where he'd be unstoppable).

I don't know if I would agree with that. Though I am pulling for all three of them to need microfracture surgeries by November.

Bosh is the one who is really annoying me now. You're not that good. You don't play defense, you've never really been a key in a meaningful game and you were a dick to Toronto. Plus your eyes are set really far apart and your head has an odd shape. Depending on the day I think you either look like a half-alien or just some really, really dumb guy. Stan Van Gundy nailed it.

LOL when even newbies realize this and come out to comment on it, you know it's bad.

I'm just comparing him to guy's like Jordan and Kobe. He relies so much on his overwhelming athleticism. It won't be there forever. When MJ lost a step or two and some of his hops you saw him operate out of the post. Kobe is obviously a much more perimeter oriented player now and has been for a few years. Lebron's an improved shooter but he's not that great at it yet. And he still hasn't developed a post game which sorta baffles me. He'd be unstoppable on the block.

Trust me I'm not RedFlash. I'm not as defensive about my shortcomings. I know I am a bad speller and very bad about being grammatically weak. If you want to nitpick about my shortcomings, be my guess cause I know I am very bad at it. Have at it. Let me put it out there, I do have agrammatism.

Dragging the man's family into it.

Stay classy, Cleveland. And you wonder why nobody wants to come to your armpit of a city.

The thing I don't understand with the whole rumor is what's Fisher's motivation? the Jazz were coming off a 51-31 season and made the Western Conference Finals. The Lakers were coming off a 42-40 season where they were hammered by Phoenix in the first round. Kobe was still demanding a trade when Fisher signed as well so it was unknown as to whether or not he would be with the team. Gasol wasn't on the team yet. Andrew Bynum was coming off a season where he averaged 7.8 points and 5.9 rebounds at 19. He wasn't a lock to put up the 13-10 that he did in 35 games the next year. And he took $2M less for the 07-08 season and $8M less total to sign with the Lakers.

It just doesn't add up (and I know you said you don't think it's true). He took less money to play with a team that was worse the previous season, was worse on paper going into the next season with a star player who had requested a trade.

NBA owners will meet on Monday and are likely to discuss concerns over the Heat's path to landing LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

It's unclear what the issues might be, but there has been plenty of chatter about player-to-player collusion and, perhaps, tampering. Chris Bosh even said that the trio had been talking for "months" before quickly correcting himself and saying "days".

nothing is going to happen about this

Not gonna to do anything to Miami's situation, but they could change rules so that in the future this sort of player tampering doesn't happen.

Took the words out of my mouth, soccer. Fisher took a pay cut to leave a team coming off a WCF appearance. He went to a worse team where the star player was going on local radio stations to list off his issues with the Lakers and demand a trade. With all that on his side, it seems odd to compare him to how Wade used his kids during free agency.

Fisher is just using the Heat as leverage. He'll be back next season. The Lakers need him. He's the only guy on the team Kobe listens to.
