I don't know how you would even go about looking it up, but I'm going to guess this is the first time a team has recorded a sweep while outscoring its opponent by 35 runs and then gets swept in the very next series while getting outscored by 21 runs.

Hopefully this just isnt Brewers pitching lulling me into a false sense of optimism. As of now, the only player on the active roster who still makes me physically ill is John Grabow, but hopefully we dont have to worry about him in high leverage situations anymore. After all the trade talk who knew that all we had to do to get a quality 8th inning guy was give up our $20 million ace.

I feel good going home to the Nationals and D Backs who have equally bad pitching, at least in the Nats case. I going to say 5-1 or 4-2, depending if we have to deal with Dan Haren, who isnt off to a great start, but hes still Dan Haren.

5 players hitting over .300 (Theriot, Fukudome, Colvin. Soriano, Soto), 4 OPSing over .800 (Fukudome, Colvin, Soriano, Soto), 2 OPSing over 1.000 (Soto, Colvin), 1 OPSing over 1.100 (Colvin).

btw Soto has the highest OBP of anyone with more than 30 AB's this season at .527.

You're forgetting Byrd, who is hitting .338 and OPSing .923.

You are correct. Over looked him because he didn't start today.

I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, its nice to see the Cubs hammer a team so thoroughly, on the other hand I was feeling secure in knowing we weren't going anywhere besides these games against the Brewers. Oh well, I guess they wont chase me out off this quickly.

Just put Zambrano back in the rotation as soon as possible, kthx

I don't think people are talking enough about how dominant the Cubs starting pitching has been this year.

19 games and look at how many quality starts we've gotten

Zambrano - 2/4

Wells - 3/4

Lilly - 1/1

Gorzelanny - 1/3 (one of the non quality starts was 5.2 IP, 2 ER)

Silva - 3/3

Dempster - 3/4

Overall thats 13 quality starts in 19 games. Pretty damn good if you ask me.

+20 run differential since opening day. (cards are +19 overall on the season)

just sayin...

This.

Given the really good starting pitching and the fact the Cubs are still a game under .500 just shows how wildly inconsistent the offense has been.

On a different note, the Cubs (and Tigers) have played the most AWAY games so far to start the season. Not certain if it means anything....but if you're gonna get off to a slow start, I'd rather the losses come on the road. Protect the home turf!

The pitchers the Brewers threw out there are horrible and should be knocked around, but it was definitely fun to see the Cubs get it done. Hopefully this sparks something. We'll see.

The rotation has been incredible. There is no denying that.

How much credit goes to Rothschild?

I don't know if any credit should be handed out to anyone yet seeing as it's April, a time when the pitchers should be ahead of the hitters. I'm impressed by the start, but I remember seeing Marquis have a similar start in 2007 only to fall back in the 2nd half.

That said, I am certainly enjoying this so far.
