k, so putting a different spin on this, although I didnt see it last night does anyone think the cramping is still a big issue with Z ? This is shear madness.

No the issue is Jim Hendry. It has been for some time now. 18M for a reliever would mean he needs to be worth 4 wins a year. For his career Mariano Rivera is worth 3.2 wins a year. Got that from Gateway Redbirds.

Z isn't a free agent getting signed to the bullpen. His contract doesn't matter when determining his role.

is it wrong that i'm already rooting for the cubs to lose 90+ games this year so that ricketts pretty much has to fire hendry and lou and the cubs get a good draft position next year?

Totally agree. Wow the BP needs help but for crying out loud Lou. Does the guy want to stop being the manager or what. This is beyond stupid.

In 2007 Brett Myers was he Phillies Opening Day starter and was moved to the bullpen after 3 starts. Two years later .... Atleast Z got to 4.

I don't know, but whats the fastest that a team's opening day starter for the past 6 years with a career ERA of 3.56 and a salary of $17M+ was moved to the pen?

It'd be nice if his performance history did.

Moving Z to the pen is almost as stupid as making Ryan Theriot your everyday SS at the ML level, pitching Jeff Samardzija ever, and replacing Geovany Soto with Koyie Hill for defense, but at least this organization has never done any of those. Oh wait... Edited by Cubswin11

We now have an $18 Million set up man. I don't think too many organizations can say they have that. Yay for us!

Ok, we're getting to be "funny bad" now. I hope we lose 95 games and have a huge fire sale, because it doesn't even seem like Lou gives a damn anymore.

And people wonder why this franchise has been a laughingstock for so long.

5 appearances, and then I can slot him into my RP slot right?

Yeah, maybe this is a ploy to get Zambrano eligibility as a RP in one of Tom Ricketts' fantasy leagues...

Though, I don't play fantasy baseball so I don't know if eligibility can change mid-season. I assume it can or depends on the league.

My CBSsportsline league has 20 min games in any RP or SP to qualify and Yahoo normally has 5 games.

A yard sale would be even better. Because people could walk up and see almost all the items laying around the yard, and then the seller can go, "whoops, that one isn't really for sale. Whoops, not that one, either, or that one or that one".

Those pesky no trade clauses, ya know.
