Hello friends, this is Jim Nantz reporting live from Chicago, where the Cubs, quite possibly the greatest baseball team ever assembled by the hand of God, attempt to get another victory over a team whose roster is mainly composed of people that baseball fans nationwide have never heard of, the Houston Astros.

The visiting Colt .45s will be led by this man, who once asked for a tractor as part of his contract, Roy Oswalt.

He is opposed by a man with a mean roundhouse kick. No, I don't mean Chuck Norris, but rather Tom "The Great Gorzo" Gorzelanny.

Today the Cubs' goal will be to not only notch a win, but a "win for the ages".

The picture of Gorz is amazing. He's so confident in the power of his kick that he's already raising his fist in triumph before the poor chump can even register that his stomach has crushed his kidneys.

It also appears to be back from Gorzelanny's right handed days.

Dammit. No fair.

I've instantly decided that should I be fortunate enough to win, that I will continue posting pictures of second basemen from our pitcher's former teams as long as I start.

It's not really on topic but I felt like posting this here.

Status from one of my White Sox friends ...

"Watching Juan Pierre play makes me hate Jackie Robinson."

Gave me a chuckle.

A couple of my Sox fans were so excited when they got him. I tried to tell he really sucked and of course they said he only sucked because he was a Cub. They aren't as excited now.

Ahh, sweet revenge. Now he's a sucky sox player. Dumb sox, lol.

I can't even look at this without laughing. Soto's LD% is 35.7% this year, and his BABIP is .231. It shouldn't be legal to be that lucky, he should get to start with a 1-0 count for a week or something.

That's crazy, I knew Soto was hitting into some bad luck and making some pretty good contact but I hadn't seen the hard numbers. Wow, hopefully he's due to go on a good hot streak here. It is nice to see however he does have 7 BB in only 19 ab's.

do the FOX blackout rules apply this early in the season?

It's different this year. Only games starting between 1:06 EST and 7:04 EST are subject to blackout.

So the Cubs game avoids the blackout by exactly one minute.

This really makes more sense to me than the past, since the early afternoon games should be over or nearly over before the Fox broadcast begins. I still hope the blackout is eventually eliminated altogether (perhaps when the contract is up for renewal).
