Hawks are 7-1 on the road in the playoffs, Flyers are 7-1 at home in the playoffs...something has to give.

I'll be happy if both are 8-2 in a few days.

I'd be happier if the Hawks are 9-1 in a few days.

Lost somewhere in this thread, I made a throwaway comment just before the San Jose series, in my nervous state, joking that the Hawks can just go 8-0 if they want to and finish this off, never for a second thinking they would even come close to sweeping the Sharks, much less them and the Flyers for 8 in a row. Well they've started out 6-0 since then...

Another random thing to point out. For the Hawks to lose this series, they'd have to lose as many games out of the next 5, as they have all postseason in 18 games so far. They'd have to lose 4 times as many games as they have in the last 11 games. It's not impossible, but it's getting less likely with each win. Don't want to sound too cocky though.

I'm having a hard time believing the last two rounds have gone so smoothly. In a perfect world they win it at home on Sunday night, but I'll take the cup however/whenever it comes.

The Hawks are due for a blowout against this team. Yes, Philly had a good third period yesterday. But it's because the Hawks were playing a prevent defense and Philly threw everything they had at them. And again, it wasn't enough. Get this team on the road, loosen things up a little and I think we get a 4-1 or 5-1 win in one of the next two games. Toews and Kane won't be kept down much longer.

I agree about the blowout win. Maybe it never comes but I just see a game where the D holds and too many pucks find the net. Kind of like Game 2 in SJ, or the road games against Vancouver. You can't tell me we can blow those two teams out but cant blow out Philly?

Man, Pronger is awesome. I hope he blows his knee out getting off the plane in Philly and has lots of time to give hilarious interviews.

it wasn't hilarious, he was getting surly on a bunch of little bitches. i've seen this before.

like i said, eager is the wrong guy to pick a fight with if you're pronger. he's a headhunter on the forecheck and just about worthless anywhere else.

ooh, you got into eager's head and he put you out of the series on a 5-minute major for boarding which your team converted into nothing. and there's really no head to get into.

My impression of Eager is that Pronger's efforts are wasted. He doesn't give a flying F what anyone says or thinks about him -- that's probably the biggest reason he's in the league.

Oh, and his damage is done. One game winner from Eager in a series is more than could ever be expected.

Actually I feel the same way about Big Buff. Try to intimidate him all you want: it's wasted effort. He doesn't care.

For some reason, despite me calling him a douche and whatever else I said earlier, I kind of like Pronger. I certainly don't like facing him, and I'm not a fan of cheapshotting any of my players, so I guess I don't like that part of his game. But some of the psychological tactics he uses to get into people's minds are awesome. He's a guy that seems like everything he says on the ice and to the media is calculated.

He's a player you love when he's on your team. And just as easily, you despise him when he's not.

his douchy comments are no more calculated than rasheed wallace's douchy comments are calculated.

i think you're giving him way too much credit. oh please pay me to sit up at a post-game pc and spit out the first irreverent thing that comes into my head so people will worship me for being a genius or have the fans of the other team think it's coolly forbidden to like me.

if he's getting into players' heads by being belligerent with reporters, those players do not belong in the nhl.

"oh that is so clever! i mean, i hate him because he doesn't play for my team, but i sure wish he did! he's just like scott hall!"

getting into peoples' minds is like when bolland had thornton talking about how much he wasn't bothering him.

^Right. He's doing this to make everything think (probably including his teammates) that he has the situation under control and knows exactly what he's doing. Give me a break.

That said, he's playing great and saved a couple goals. When they lose, people will forget that and just focus on all this stupid [expletive].

definitely. i watched a full interview of him that he did during the off day between games 1 and 2, and the entire time it just felt like he was trying desperately to come across as confident and loose.

also, he looks like evan longoria mixed with tim robbins. so at least he has that.

Not just calling you out, but everyone with that line of thinking. I've heard too much of that in the last 24 hours.

In a perfect world, the Hawks sweep the Flyers and win it on Friday. We're all Cubs fans here. Do I really need to say anything else?

in a perfect world, we are celebrating in front of philly fans who have mostly gone home to smoke ice because philadelphia is the riverside, california of the east coast.

Exactly. I want a sweep so bad.

But in a perfect world, losing is not an option. They will win in this perfect world and kujay thinks it would be perfect to win at home. In a perfect world, the Hawks play Game 4 at home :)

But yeah, I don't care where they win it. As long as they do. It would be nice to see them at home, but I'd rather them win by virtue of a sweep. I learned after 2003 to never cheer for a scenario where your team loses a precious playoff game. Not that I was really doing that, but I wasn't offended by the sentiment that many people had.

i can't believe any of you are actually talking about preferences of when a potential clinching game may or may not take place. we talk about game 3 and that's it.

have you all learned nothing?

It's the same reffing crew from game 1, featuring McCreary of "13 penalties on Chicago and 1 on their opponents in the last three games" fame.

We're boned.

2-1 series.

Honestly, I'm really interested to see how much more onesided they can get away with.

So who determines the ref crews for these games? Why does McCreary always wind up reffing the games?

He's one of the most senior referees in the league. They will be alternating the two-man crews we've seen so far for the rest of the series. McCreary gets games 1 3 5 and 7, I think.

OK.

So the NHL just says "you've been around the longest" and gives him the job? He doesn't seem like a very good ref to me, regardless of his seniority.

Yes. It's well-known around the league that he can't skate at all anymore, but he keeps getting high-profile games.
