NEVARRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

If anything, we can be amused by guys like the one I just heard on WGN's post game show ranting that the Cubs sucks because they don't play guys like Jake Fox and Sam Fuld.

Stat of the first week:

The Cubs had 32 hits in the first 6 games of the season.

The Cubs opponents scored 30 runs in the first 6 games of the season.

With respect to our pitching, our oponents only scored 14 runs in the last 5 games though, and I think only 5 of which were on our starters.. But yeah, our offense is jut bad. Good thing we spent all that money on a fancy new hitting coach.

If Caridad and Berg are going to walk anyone, much less everyone, there's zero excuse for them not to be in Iowa in favor of Stevens/Parker/Gaub.

Also, its time for the Caridad, Shark, Berg, Grablow experiment to end. Call up Gaub, Stevens, and Gray all of them have better stuff than the guys in our bullpen right now who keep blowing games.

amen to that. add gray to the list of guys in iowa who are probably better than some of the pitchers on the big club.

Heh, pretty much posted same thing at same time. Shouldnt you throw Grays name in with the Stevens/Paker/Gaub group as well?

IIRC Gray has stuff that's probably a touch better, but he doesn't have the results that the other three have put up. He's got some MLB success under his belt though, which is more than the other guys without big K rates can say.

Would either be worse than Soriano?

Those people are idiots, but in fairness to them, if we had Sam Fuld in LF right now and an extra $17.5 million (difference between Soriano and Fuld) to spend on something else I'd have to think the Cubs would be a better team.

Yea the bolded is why I mentioned Gray, besides the fact his stuff is supposed to be pretty damn good. Between Caridad, Berg, Russel, and Shark and Gaub, Stevens, Parker, and Gray, I know which 4sum Id much rather have on this team right now.

What about Cashner? Hes a lot more valuable as a late inning reliever to us than as the AA ace.

Id rather leave Cashner starting in the minors in hopes of him becoming a ML starter, than bring him up to be a reliever with this team right now. Plus its not like Cashner is a great bet to hit the strikezone.

the last thing I want the cubs to do right now is take a good prospect and toss him into the big league pen where he'd go weeks at a time without more than a token appearance. Let the kid start in the minors and get the reps he needs to work on his secondary stuff. Otherwise we are likely to get a repeat of the samardzija situation.

i'm extremely worried about aramis. he's striking out at an alarming rate and swinging and missing constantly.

9 strikeouts through his first 23 ABs

Cashner will be up in the bullpen by the end of the May. The desperation of the situation will cause it to happen. If that's the case, I'd rather it happen sooner rather than later.

The longer he remains as a successful starter in the minors, the better chance he has of eventually getting a shot as a starter in the majors. He has to start pitching more than 4 or 5 innings every game though.

There's probably a few NSBB'ers who probably couldn't do any worse.

yeah, but that just means we'd be better off if we somehow got out of soriano's contract, as the first thing we'd do with that money is get a real left fielder.

Probably. It's an exercise in hypotheticals, I was just playing devil's advocate on that one.

At least they're getting on base, but the first inning today was completely inexcusable.

I don't know how you fix it, but all these guys left on base is maddening. It could be overlooked if we'd score them every now and then, but we're not doing that.
