COMPLAINING ABOUT THE HUGGING?

seriously, guys?

I liked the hip bump myself.

that was cool, but maybe stale?

I like that Marlon seemed to initiate it all... good vibes from him all around.

He's definitely making a good impression. If he keeps hitting 2 homers every series that'll be good.

Kudos to the Cubs for coming back and allowing just 3 runs in the last 2 games after giving up 16 on Opening Day. They could have easily won both games and took the series, but sometimes you get a bad break (aka Grabow).

I'm feeling a little better about this team after the last 2 games, but obviously there has not been nearly enough games played to make any sort of long term judgement on the 2010 Cubs.

I'm just happy to get win number 1!

I missed the entire game (wifes b-day) how did Wells look? I didn't know Colvin had a bomb since just now. Awesome to see!

Someone who watched the game could give you a better answer. But based on the highlights I saw from the At Bat app he had very good command and sharp break on his pitches. His breaking balls had good sharp bite on the ends of them (inducing the 3 double plays).

First: Like Omar mentioned earlier in the thread, I would like to congratulate Tyler on his first major league homerun. It was as impressive of a shot as Jason Heyward's. Here's to many, many more HRs from TC in the future.

Second: There are those that said Heyward's "welcome to the major leagues" moment happen when he homered on his first major league at bat, I disagree. I think Jason had his "welcome to the major league" moment last night against Carlos Marmol. Anybody can hit a homerun off a flat fastball, but I am pretty sure Heyward has never faced a slider like Marmol before and it showed.

Third: Is it wrong if the Cubs reorder their starting rotation to Dempster/Wells/Zambrano, because right now Wells and Demspter are clearly better pitchers (I didn't say more talented, just better) then Carlos, and thus the rotation should be reorder to show as much.

Fourth: Sean Marshall. He's more then earned his shot at the rotation. That is all.

Phase 1: Win tonight. Done

Phase 2: Win 2 of 3 in Cincy

Phase 3: Win at least 2 of 3 against the Brewers back home

Phase 4: Enjoy the good start to the season.

See? I can be optimistic.

Phase 5: Profit

While this is true, our bullpen needs Marshall more than our rotation at the moment.

I don't know if we can say that for certain when Gorzo and Silva haven't pitched yet. Plus assuming Marshall is nearly as effective over 6 innings as he is in 2/3 of an inning (a bit of a stretch), he's a lot more valuable to us as a starter than as a reliever.
