Interesting- thanks, Jake.

My friend who is a Pirates fan was ranting about Hart sucking in ST the other day, and I told him I was not in any way surprised because I never saw why he was viewed as anything more than an average middle-reliever and possible fill-in starter at the MLB level. Was definitely not sad to see him traded, as he just seemed to keep making Cubs prospect lists in the back end of the top-10 even though his numbers were never terribly enthralling.

Although if the Cubs could have him back and never have received Grabow and the 7.5 million liability that is Grabow's current contract, then of course I'd welcome him back to Iowa in a second. You have to think that Hendry would have been all over Grabow in FA whether or not he was traded to the Cubs last year, though....ahhh (end Grabow rant)

best of luck to Hart in the minors-

How's Josh Harrison doing with the Pirates, Jake- heard anything on him?

re Josh Harrison -

Not much has been said about him this spring.

He was brought to a Major League game as a fill in recently, I can't remember when (Some time in the last week.)

He's showing up on the "Others to watch" at the end of top prospect lists.

He'll either be in Bradenton or Altoona.

Ascaino is headed for the 60 day DL to start the season. (To complete the three players we got in the trade.)

There were a bunch of people here that thought Hart was a good one. We traded him for a reason.

Many here thought Murton was a star we screwed over too.

I'm trying to recollect who was a big Hart supporter on the site and can't really come up with any. Most people that I recall were consistently surprised that Hart showed up ranking high for BA and other publications.

BUT EVERYONE HERE THOUGHT MURTON WAS A STAR!!! Oh, wait...nobody really thought that.

Peoriaman doesn't care about the truth, he only cares about making it look like everybody else is loony tunes and he's the only sane fan with a decent grasp on everybody's ability.

He also seems to hand out a lot of "I told you so" without ever telling anybody anything.

I'll defend him a bit: he has sent me some reliable information in the past (through PM's) from contacts within baseball.

Oh, come on. There were plenty of Murton fans here, but few who thought he was a "star." And the Hart comment is just ridiculous. Please show me anyone here who thought he'd be more than a serviceable reliever/spot starter/5th starter at best.

ok, "star" was an exageration :) . But I was pummeled everytime I posted Murton's stats or Hart's stats. Both those guys had their fans here--that is ok. I just wasn't one of those fans.

Why are some here so pissy all the time? Let's enjoy discussing Cub baseball.

In other former AAAA Cubs news, despite a .151/.224/.321 ST line, Jake Fox beat out Jack Cust for the job of 1 dimensional power hitter for the A's. Cust was DFAd.

cust isn't one dimensional

Wow, Jake. I don't like it either, since this could hurt our future deals with the Pirates. I complain about the Cubs front office, but the Pirates front office is an even bigger mess.

i wouldn't say their front office is a mess... i like what neal huntington is doing there and they seem to be focusing more on player development. obviously it was a disaster when they had littlefield but their new regime is okay, at least i think it is.

Why do you say this ?

Maybe I spoke out of turn. Is someone else to blame for the Pirates starting rotation?
