An attempt to talk myself into the Haith hire:

- Guy can really recruit, and he better get started quick, cause there's 9, maybe 10 scholarships to fill in the next 12 months or so.

- Miami is a college basketball wasteland, no administration support, half empty 7k capacity arena, etc.

- Leonard Hamilton is proof that Miami results aren't exactly a true barometer of coaching success

On the other hand, I can't shake the fact that we just signed up to be Baylor without the shadiness as a best case scenario. Maybe that's not really any different than the alternatives though.

Didn't Hamilton actually do well at Miami?

144-147, 73-87 in conference. Although the parallels are difficult because Miami was a Big East school for Hamilton's tenure.

@tmckernan: Missouri Board of Curator Member David Wasinger on @590TheFanKFNS said its 50-50 that hiring of Haith will be reversed

Oh it absolutely would be. The one curator who keeps talking about this to every STL media member with a microphone needs to lose his position.

He also told 590 that fans need to contact the board with their thoughts on Haith.

That. Is an amazing idea.

Wow. Better your school than mine, I guess.

It's an awesome idea. Fans should always pick their respective team's head coach.

You're just jealous that your school isn't so innovative as to crowdsource their coaching search.

regardless if haith is the coach or not (puking violently while i type that), mike alden has to go. he continually goes about things the wrong way, and apparently he has the reputation amongst coaches as someone you do not want to work for. yay!

I want the board to shoot down the Haith hiring so we can see how ridiculous a hiring they can come up with. Isiah Thomas is still available. He already knows how to recruit the Sun Belt

I don't think any of that is true at all. Alden went for a hire no one thought he could get, and almost pulled it off. Now he's made his pick among a large group of similar but lesser candidates(especially with Smart staying at VCU, I don't think you can reasonably find someone who is clearly a better option than Haith). Alden has hired pretty much every coach currently at the university and the athletic department has never been better. We're talking about some of the best runs in school history in football, volleyball, wrestling, softball, baseball, gymnastics, plus the recent run in basketball. If Alden was really that difficult to work for, then Anderson would've jumped at Georgia or Oregon offering him more money, and Pinkel certainly wouldn't still be around either.

Yeah, Alden isn't considered hard to work for at all.

knowing nothing of the situation, i would think that if he hired Pinkel that should give him a pretty long leash.

Don't know if any of you care, but Gregg Marshall is staying at Wichita State, after rumors of him being a candidate for the NC State gig were swirling around.
