I don't think I can put into words how much I hate how the offense just stops with about 7 minutes left and a lead.

Apparently that must be the game plan, because it has been happening for years and nothing has changed.

Does Illinois have any size next year besides Leonard?

Any PFs or big bodies coming in?

Just off hand I can only think of the guards and Richmond, who is taller but doesn't play it.

Started Dee's senior year in the Washington game.

Can somebody explain how Michigan's resume is better than ours right now.

I'm sure I'm talking about of my ass, but:

better overall record, 9-3 in last 12 games, and head to head win on neutral floor

vs.

win against UNC, h2h win, better RPI and SOS

is that the argument?

Last 12 is meaningless.

Almost as meaningless as overall record.

For the record, I think Illinois has the better resume. I'm just listing the variables out there, not necessarily what the committee looks at. However, I could swear the committe looks at how you've played over your last X number of games and that plays a factor. Am I wrong? I'm sorry Michigan doesn't get into the tourney enough to know in detail how the process works.

I'm about 99% sure that both Illinois and Michigan are in.

Mike Shaw. Nnanna Egwu. I'm sure we will sit on both though. Gotta make em earn it.

Illinois will still make the tournament, but they don't deserve to. Not with this head coach and this senior class.

That's a really dumb way to look at things

Perhaps, but are you going to be excited when they pull the same song and dance the next time they take the court?

The only reason they're going to make the tournament this year is because of how bad college basketball is.

They no longer look at last X games. They finally caught on that unbalanced schedules make the stat absurd. The dumb-ass committee head did say that he valued total # of wins when they interviewed him last weekend, so I won't put any stupidity past them.

Time to go back to 64 (or 65) teams!

Or we could get serious and just deal with the problem.

By doing what? Eliminating the 1 year out of high school rule? Increasing it?

Michigan probably doesn't deserve the bid they'll get. Pretty amazing season for them though. I don't think anyone picked them to have more than 7-9 wins this season.

Get rid of the one and done.

Illinois should get in. 9-9 in a tough conference, wins over UNC and Wisconsin.

It could get dicey if MSU and PSU win their games, though.

I'm almost to the point of hoping we miss as it might mean Weber will be getting some pressure.

Now its just sweating out whether they will have to win the play-in round to get to the field of 64, or if they are "in" in. I'm gonna guess they are in.

I don't think they'll be much difference unless we made a run in the tourney. Obviously these horse [expletive] seniors (except maybe Davis) are never gonna have the light turn on, so that won't be happening. People are pissed, and another disaster next year like this one and I think he's gone.

I hope so. This is unreal between this and Hendry's lifetime contract makes me wish I worked in Illinois.

is terminating weber's contract early especially cost prohibitive? I know there will be costs for any early termination, but some schools are better at structuring the contract. (For example, all 5 years of Turner Gill's contract are guaranteed. Yama-hama.)

They can afford to, they were the 4th most profitable team in the NCAA last year after UNC, UK, and KU. This isn't about money. This is Guenther refusing to admit he had the choice between the duper model(Matta) and the girl from Precious(Weber). He won't admit he was wrong.

I personally would like to see it mirror college football to keep players around for 3 years, but I don't think that will ever happen, so getting rid of the rule altogether is the next best thing.

That's really easy to say now.

I'm aware it wasn't easy to say then, but there is nothing wrong with saying man I screwed up. Let's get this fixed. Weber here another year will cost us a chance at the 2013 kids. Unless they want to come play for a bubble team.
