The Cubs, Dodgers and Cardinals are among the teams still monitoring the progress of left-hander Mark Mulder, a major league source said. Mulder, who starred at Thornwood High School, hasn't remained healthy over a full season since 2005.

Speaking of off-injured pitchers looking for clubs. I haven't seen the yearly Mark Prior is preparing for ST article that states he has/will start throwing off of flat ground soon and is expected to be ready for the regular season. Anybody got a update on him?

My son got a hit off of Mulder in HS, which doesn't say much about his pitching ability.

Well, that settles it. Mulder is awful.

Time spent monitoring Mulder is better spent begging for change on a street corner.

This. He's damaged goods at this point. We might as well bring back Prior if we're going to go this route.

I've never been one to shy away from handing out minor league deals, but in this particular case, I'd have to insist that he not start off in major league spring training. I'd hate to see his rehab taking away even ST innings from guys who could really use them.

Good god, I'm depressed to read this.

It's too bad gender roles weren't reversed for him - I think all he's got left to offer is the fact that every female Cardinals fan I know raved about how attractive he was. He coulda gone the Anna Kournikova route.

Instead, he'll just have to be satisfied knowing he was really good for a few years, until his body completely broke down.

I got to see the guy throw a 10 inning shut-out against Roger Clemens, from the best seats I've ever had in my life, so I will always respect the guy. But, wow, I really would be surprised if a team even bothered to take a flier on him.
