I understand why the do a shoot out but it should be 5 on 5.

Why can't we just have sudden death with as many OTs as necessary of 5 vs. 5?

 

I swear the big international competitions just over think it when it comes to overtime.

 

They are thinking of the general public, who they think don't want to watch 60 minutes of scoreless hockey potentially.
