They need to stop talking about Apollo Ohno's "hurdle" of those two other skaters that crashed just a little bit ago. They fell three feet to his right.

Parise is really shining. If NJ was any good at marketing themselves they'd be all over this.

 

I've seen him play roughly a handful of games the last 3-4 years and then his play in this tournament plus the recent SI article made me question whether I should give the Devils my allegiance. God he is so fun to watch in all aspects.

 

After we got the 4th goal (maybe the 3rd) the Fins completely mailed that one in. They looked like Russia the other night. Kiprusoff couldn't pull himself fast enough after that 4th goal. Even before that we looked so much faster and were playing with way more energy.

 

Is Jokinen considered a dirty player? That was so weak. That play on Kane came pretty early and the only drama in the last two periods was hoping that no one got hurt or baited into a misconduct.

Eh. I don't know. He didn't really push him so much as just have his hand there. I've seen a lot worse in this Olympics not get DQ'd.

Canada scores on the PP, 3-0 after 2, was really hoping Slovkia could pull off an upset, just don't see us beating them again.

 

canada is weird. they looked ridiculously good against russia, but tonight they look kind of "meh" (at least compared to how they've looked in other games in the tournament). i don't really know what to make of them. i mean obviously they're awesome, but how awesome? if they play like they have tonight, USA can definitely beat them again. i thought they'd be running circles around slovakia.

 

i'm really interested in how they come out on sunday. they're going to have a ridiculous amount of pressure on them. not only is there the pressure of winning the gold, but there is going to be extra pressure on them to not lose to the US for the second time in the tournament.

 

can you imagine the heat they'd take if they lost to us TWICE? it would be brutal (and amazing)

It would be incredible if we managed to beat Canada twice on their turf. I have no doubt they're going to come out flying Sunday trying to put us away early.

btw, that 500m DQ business was a bunch of garbage. why was a canadian judging that anyways? seems like a pretty obivous conflict of interest.

 

if Ohno got DQ'd on that there is NO reason that the bearded guy who own shouldn't have been DQ'd as well.

Eh, I don't think too much pressure is on Canada. They responded really well to their loss which seems to have refocused them (you could argue why they would need that but I digress). They are already guaranteed silver, which would be a big failure, but it's not like they finished 8th. And yes losing to your rivals USA twice in the tournament would be bad, but Team USA has proven throughout the tournament that they are a formidable opponent. It wouldn't be like USA basketball losing to Puerto Rico or something.

 

So yes there is some pressure, but I think their team is very confident in their abilities. They know they can beat USA, and I don't think anyone has a doubt of that despite the loss earlier in the tourney.
