I guess it would depend on price but generally once a RB falls off that cliff, he doesn't climb back up to where he was.

This is true, but even if he gets halfway back to where he was, hes better than Forte. If nothing else this team is in need of a solid back to split carries with Forte. I suppose Bell was decent.

Would LT want to play for the Bears though? He says he's looking for a championship...and I don't think the Bears are going to be the first thought there.

This isn't baseball, you can't hope for a declining vet to put one last good year together. RBs do not return to glory, they disappear in an instant. Nobody should have any interest in LDT going to Chicago except for Bears opponents.

Screw your "this isn't baseball" talk, I'm ready for another San Diego-Chicago rebirth!

It doesn't seem to me that it happens very often, but occasionally an RB does rebound after joining a new team. Several years ago Marcus Allen was declining in Oakland but got rejuvenated with Kansas City. Having said that, however, I don't see the Bears' offensive line as being the one to rejuvenate LT.

That's the biggest number I've ever seen "several" used to represent. I wouldn't generally call going from 4.5 YPC to 3.8 getting rejuvenated. Looking at Allen's career numbers, He was sort of done after his fourth season. 380 runs that season and he was never the same.

LT was done two years ago. He wouldn't average 3 YPC with this team.

Yeah, the Bears could really use some additional talent at running back but they need a guy who is actually, you know, good.

Ànd Rolle would be incredible in the Bears secondary but if it comes down to spending money on one position this offseason, it has to be the offensive line.

At least Rolle would make the competition for Atogwe lighter.

If the Bears are looking to catch lightning in a bottle with an aged running back, Westbrook would be a better option than Tomlinson.

I agree, if you only think you need 100-150 touches out of him.

If the Bears can keep him healthy, he's an ideal 3rd down back. He still has a little speed, probably catches the ball as well as any rb, and is good in staying in for protection as well.

Use Forte on most 1st and 2nd downs and use Westbrook on third downs.

Well I guess if you want to break up the duties a bit you could go with Westbrook...I don't think he compliments Forte that well though. I'd rather have a hammer as the 2nd RB.

I think Westbrook could be more useful in a Martz system than any sort of "hammer". And Forte plus a hammer would really be undynamic as a RB group.

Perhaps he was saying he would rather have an actual hammer as a 2nd RB than Westbrook?

I'm just annoyed that none of our RBs run with any authority. Forte was so tentative this year. Hopefully it's injury related and he can bounce back from it.

I think whatever Westbrook offers is the stuff that Forte still does well. Maybe we can trade Forte and get Chester Taylor. That'd be nice.

Yeah I was thinking Westbrook would be a good fit for Martz but at this stage he's a bit redundant with Forte, though he may be a bit more dynamic. The same could be said for Taylor. I'm still hoping Chester realizes he's in an ideal situation in Minnesota at this point in his career.

I honestly think Taylor would be a top 10ish back in the league if he got more touches. Maybe he's protected in Minnesota but someone will make him a starter. He's very good.

The Chicago Bears are gearing up for a major run at Julius Peppers, a league source said Tuesday, and Aaron Kampman also is an option for a team that's intent on landing a pass-rushing defensive end this offseason.

that is so awesome. save your jobs, guys!

Kampman would be more efficient financially and allow the Bears to go after targets for other holes on the team.

I'm pretty indifferent on Peppers. $40 Mil is a lot of money to guarantee any player that's not a star QB. I'm pretty sure Peppers is NOT worth it, but he would do great things for this defense. Even if he doesn't put up 10-15 sacks, he may be able to rejuvenate Urlacher and Harris and greatly improve the defense by himself.

I would much rather spend on an OG, but he's better than any UFA on the O-line.

Since the Bears are my favorite team and the Panthers my third favorite (behind the Colts) seeing Peppers sign with the Bears would more than offset the disappointment of seeing him leave the Panthers.
