OK, I really can't believe I'm asking this, and I would have told you at the beginning of the season you were nuts for asking it but here it goes....

Cutler vs San Fran

Favre vs Det

I think I need to put down my Bears goggles and go with the obvious here, but wanting some other input.

Not that this is completely telling, but:

49ers: 9th ranked passing defense in terms of TDs (24th in yards)

Lions: 31st ranked in passing defense in terms of TDs (also 31st in yards)

It's a fair question. Look at it this way. If the defense is going to keep sucking as bad as it does, and there's no reason it won't, Cutler is going to be airing it out for at least three quarters.

I think I would start him over Favre this week because A-Pete is liable to run a few in, the defense will get a pick-6 and it'll be 21-0 or worse before Detroit knows what happened. And Favre won't be throwing much.

Arent the Niners missing some people in that secondary though? Clements?

Im just trying to decide if Favre will even be needed to put up any kind of numbers vs Det, whereas Im fairly certain Cutler will be needed to put up points(and probably lots of them).

Clements is out, but that's still a pretty good secondary. That said, I hadn't considered how likely it is that Favre won't be throwing much.

Although, when he does throw, he could be extremely productive.

What about this one?

Pick 2 out of 3:

Pierre Thomas vs. St Louis

Ronnie Brown vs. Tampa

Cedric Benson vs. Pitt

I'm leaning towards sitting Benson, although Brown hasn't been great lately, due to the matchups.

I'd probably play Favre over Cutler as well.

I would go Thomas and Brown as well. I am starting Benson in one of my two leagues, but I don't have the Ronnie Brown option!

I need 2 of the following.

Pierre Thomas @ STL

Laurence Maroney @ IND

Matt Forte @ SF

Brian Westbrook @ SD

I'm leaning PT and Maroney. In my league, TDs are what matter most. 6 pts per TD, only 1 pt per 20 yrds rushing/receiving, no points per reception, etc. I'm thinking Westbrook will get a light load coming off the concusion and I don't really trust the Bears rushing attack for obvious reasons.

seems like Thomas and Maroney are the way to go.

sooo...at what point do I bail on Forte and bench him? my other options to replace him aren't much better being Hightower (or Wells) and Ricky Williams.

I'm only spot starting him at this point. Really, home against STL is the only must start of the year left for Forte. I have him in a 2 QB league and Peyton Manning was on the board when I got him. Ugh.

If you make the playoffs, Wells/Hightower have some nice matchups with DET/STL.

choose three:

matt forte @ sf

marion barber @ gb

marshawn lynch @ tenn

steven jackson vs no

tim hightower vs sea

kevin smith vs minn

right now i've got the top 3 starting... thoughts?

I'd start Jackson. NO is not a great run defense, and as they showed against Indy STL might actually still run Jackson even when they are way behind. I have no idea which of the 3 I'd bench though as they seem to be about the same this week.

I agree with the Jackson sentiment. Bench Forte, just look at the guy's numbers and Pat Willis is going to be hitting him the backfield an awful lot. Marshawn's got a great matchup and with captain checkdown back giving him more receiving yards makes it that much better. And Marion Barber should have a good day.

Yes, take off the Bear goggles. Not enough consistency in that offense. Cutler could do better, especially if the Vikes put on cruise control against the Lions, but he could also do significantly worse and I don't think the limited upside is worth it. Favre should get the nod, and he may deserve it every week here on out, except possibly when the Vikings face the Bengals.

For the record, I was right about Forte's inability to run the ball. All of those receiving yards though... oops.

Got a last minute one here

3 of:

Ronnie Brown vs. TB

Laurence Maroney at IND

Rashard Mendenhall vs. CIN

Tim Hightower vs. SEA

Reggie Bush at STL

Leaning towards the first 3 however I think Bush could have a big game today.

2 of:

Harvin vs. DET

Colston at STL

Driver vs. Dal

leaning towards Driver and Colston, but Colston scares me a bit because the Saints are going to trounce the Rams and might only pass the ball for 2 quarters.
