i hate hinrich so much, but rondo is just unbearable. i can't wait for another season or 2 when boston is winning 15 games a season again and everyone is talking [expletive] to rondo for 48 minutes a game

this is such a beautiful thought.

Someone on the Bulls needs to lay someone the [expletive] out. I'm sick and tired of people bashing Rose into the ground with impunity.

Maybe Hinrich's goofy ass can drop some cheap shot on somebody the way he did to Rondo last year.

Not sure if you are trying to just garner a response but I'm pretty sure Bulls fans along with 98% of NBA fans saw that event differently than you do. I didn't see Hinrich throw Ronda into the scorer's table.

Rondo was definately the punk arse thug. So definately SSR was definately trying to get a response.

At least James Johnson looked good!

7 in a row, with three more against playoff caliber teams (two of which are on the road) and still will not have Deng or Noah, and maybe Rose. Yeah, it is all over by the complaining. Anybody who uses the Bulls and playoffs in the same sentence are being disingenuous. Even in the east, the Bulls lineup couldn't be an NBDL All-Star team, much less an NBA team. Oh well, at least baseball is here.

So the Bulls, who have been struggling while missing 2-3 of their best players, have no chance to make up a 2 game gap and get back into the playoffs. Good to know.

Anyway, these three off days come at a good time... hopefully Deng and Rose can be back for the game against Memphis, although I'm really not sure how far away either is.

I don't believe these 3 days off really amount to much in the bigger picture. They were struggling even with Deng & Rose playing.

I hope they don't rush either back to the court at this point. To me it's all about 2010-2011 now. Deng & Rose should only play if they are absolutely 100%

They were struggling even before Deng and Rose was out. So yeah, I do think playoff talk is stupid, right now.

I'm at the point where I'm hoping we just shut Rose and Noah down for the rest of the year and land a top eight draft pick in the process.

the Bulls are 8 games out of the 8th pick (assuming the ping pong balls go as planned). Even without Rose and Noah, I doubt they drop that many games over the 18 or so they have left

Shutting down Rose for the rest of the year for a sprained wrist that he would probably play with in the playoffs? That's a gigantic over reaction.

He's not a finished product (neither is Noah for that matter) and if he's healthy enough to play he needs to be out there working on his game even if the playoffs are unlikely.

Acie Law leading the way with 11 points through a quarter and a half. I think he's finally starting to find his groove now that he is getting some PT.

:good:

Not necessarily saying that correlation=causation, but did anyone catch Vinny calling a timeout in the 4th after the Bulls went on a 10-1 run to cut the lead down to four? The Grizzlies had been up by 25, and the Bulls had scored 26 of the last 33 points.

After the TO, Memphis scored six straight and put the game away.

And he is playing well again tonight. I'm telling you, he could be a nice backup to Rose next season. The kid is nails.

Led the Bulls with 22 points (7-8 from the field, 7-7 from the FT line). Also had 3 assists, 3 rebounds (2 offensive), and only 1 turnover in 21 minutes of play.

That is the only positive coming out of this crap is that Law is essentially making it clear the Bulls don't need to re-sign Pargo.

So I don't keep track of this thread too much, so not sure if there has been much talk about the pick swap with Milwaukee. Here's a breakdown I did of the draft slots from RealGM.

Okay, so theres a lot of whining going on about this pick swap. Here is a simple statistical breakdown of the 11th pick vs the 17th pick, where we may end up. Actually its the 18th pick as of today I think, but I didn't realize that until I collected all my data. Oops. It works still. And I'll admit that the 17th pick will likely look better than the 18th pick. This wasn't a bias, I swear. Anyways I tracked GP, Career PER, and All Star Appearences. I went back to 1980.

11th Pick:

Avg: 560 GP, 13.9 PER, 15 All Star Appearances (none since Allan Houston 1992)

17th Pick:

Avg: 375 GP, 12.25 PER, 12 All Star Appearances (JON - 5, Kemp 6, Granger 1)

1980 is a long time to go back though. There were 23 teams then. The 11th pick then was more like a 14th pick now. The 17th was more like a 22nd now. Not a huge difference. But there are other large changes. Theres a huge influx of International player. There was the high school era, followed by the NBA Age Rule. Expansion teams, etc.

I chose 2002 as a cutoff date to track recent picks. Somewhat arbitrary, but I did it because that is the most veteran #11 pick still active (Jarred Jeffries). GP is an odd thing to track because it was intended as a measure of longevity, and these players are active. We'll still include it though (it may give some analysis to how quickly a player will make an impact).

11th Pick since 2002:

Avg: 257 GP, 11.99 PER, 0 All Stars

17th Pick since 2002:

Avg: 229 GP, 13.79 PER, 1 All Star

Also since the focus on recent trends is more important I will include the averages from all picks from 11-18 (GP, PER, All Star)

11: 257, 11.99, 0

12: 191, 11.23, 0

13: 192, 12.01, 0

14: 268, 13.13, 0

15: 187, 11.85, 0

16: 181, 10.34, 0 (*note* really hurt by Troy Bell's 6 GP and -4.5PER, without him: 206, 12.46)

17: 229, 13.79, 1

18: 192, 13.9, 2

Disclaimers:

I'm not saying the 18th pick is better than the 11th pick. Past results don't dictate future results. This is a very limited analysis, and in no way meant to be all encompassing. I'm not trying to defend the pick swap.

But it is still damn interesting.

Remember the debate a dozen or so pages ago about whether or not the Bulls would be attractive to free agents if they started to slide after the trade deadline? Well, Dirk Nowitzki comments on that very subject.

pfft - what does he know? It's all about whether they win an extra 3-5 games this year or not.

It's easy to say when you have no interest in going to Chicago (or leaving Dallas at all)

Isn't it just as easy to say "Yeah, Derrick is a nice young talent, but the slide they are going through will taint them as a destination."?

I doubt Dirk is thinking that far ahead when an interview comes up but he knows Lebron teaming up with Wade/Bosh is basically lights out for the rest of the league while one of those guys (even James) going to Chicago doesn't really change much.

Yeah but why would Dirk randomly badmouth the Bulls, even if he has no desire to come here this season? Doesn't make sense and doesn't fit with Dirk's personality.
