Why would they hold off a trade that would make the team better?

They seem to have been pretty content to wait the past few years when they started playing better. They should have added Gasol a few years ago, but fell in love with their own roster. They were linked with Amar'e and Garnett at one point too.

If a trade is going to obviously improve the team they're going to do it. Sometimes deals just fall through. Yeah, teams often overrate their own guys, but the only big deal we've heard rumored this year is for Bush and it's pretty hard to imagine they'd turn it down along the lines that have been discussed unless Toronto is asking for the moon.

If LA is going to give them Bynum, I can't imagine Toronto getting a better return than that. Coupled with the fact that the Raptors pretty much know he's gone, I have a strong feeling that deal will go down if it is, in fact, being discussed. Man, that would make for a ridiculously scary LA team. I'd instantly put a lot of money on the Lakers winning the championship if it does.

I guess I don't understand how the NBA cap works, because there should be no way that team fits under the cap.

To be honest, I have no idea how it would work, especially because I think Bynum is a base year contract right now... I've just seen the reports that a deal was out there as those guys being the main pieces.

Yeah I heard Simmons talking about it on his radio show yesterday so it's definately out there. I just don't get how.

that's a virtual all star team if that happened. I don't know the other pieces but if they could get Bosh and keep Gasol, Kobe, Artest and Odom wow.

Fisher

Bryant

Arest

Bosh

Gasol

6th man: Odom

They might want to make a run at Chris Paul just to shore up that shaky PG position.

Without delving into Toronto's cap situation my kneejerk reaction is that I'd rather let Bosh walk than take on Bynum's contract. I'm not really high on Bynum.

He has a very nice post game, in theory. But he doesn't want to do anything that centers are supposed to do and he's injury prone. He's not a guy that shuts down the paint like he should be. Doesn't like to rebound much either.

Bynum seems to be very much like Eddy Curry, except without the fat. And considering Toronto's GM wants a more up-tempo game, I don't see where Bynum would fit.

Yeah, he is similar to Curry. Although when he first started turning heads he was showing way more potential than Curry did as a rebounder, shot blocker, etc. And then he got hurt the first time and he hasn't really been that way since.

I'm somehow still not entirely sold on Rose. He's a great player, especially for his age, but I don't think he has the personality to be the leader of a championship team. We'll see if that's something that he can develop, or if he'll need a complimentary player who brings that quality.

I can see that, which is why after the season do not re-sign VDN and sign Byron Scott. I think Scott can get Rose to the next level as a pg.

I don't think it matters who his coach is, he just doesn't have the personailty type to dominate like he should. Maybe it is something he will have as he gets older, but I don't know if it will be because of a coach or not.

I don't know what you would've seen in the last month or so that would make you doubt Rose "being the man." He's still not there yet but he's definitely taken a lot more responsibility. He's way more aggressive and selfish (in a good way) now. When he starts getting calls and maybe a serviceable 3 pointer he'll be deadly.

I can see where you might think he won't be the unquestioned alpha dog on a championshiop caliber team but he's definitely a 1a type more than a second fiddle.

I don't think he's a second fiddle, I just think he's too quiet a guy to be "the man" on a team. He's not Jordan/James/Bryant/Wade/whoever in terms of personality

Hinrich is holding the ball far too much down the stretch. Rose didn't even get the ball on that possession (though TT got fouled). He has to work too hard to get a touch and he's getting the ball at awful angles.

So [expletive] brutal. The last two games have been the most glaring examples all year of missing BG. There's just no spacing or reliable outside shooting and it strangles everything.
