Yeah, I'm going to forego the EI subscription this year, in anticipation of a relatively frustrating year as a Cub fan.

I didn't watch the Cubs for as many times as they were on WGN, let alone every game on EI. I probably won't be renewing it this year, either.

It's kind of weird having comparatively no hot stove action in Dec/Jan for the Cubs. Byrd, but other than that it's sooo quiet out there. I guess I'm not used to it.

The goal of the offseason was dealing away Milton Bradley, that happened.

This. And what Hendry perceived as the major "pieces" are in place. He has the team he wanted and all that should remain is minor tweaks.

The problem is, Soriano is not playing like a $19million player, Zambrano is not going to give hendry his $18 million worth, Samardzija was supposed to playing above his pay by now, etc., etc., etc.

The moves have been made, the pieces have been extended, everything is in place, but it just didn't work. Hendry bet on the wrong horses.

From Jon Heyman's lates article. He's good:

Ted Lilly's injury could be a big blow, and Rafael Soriano proved to be even more untradeable than Castillo. No matter, they remain very talented and still have an excellent shot to get back to the playoffs.

It's been corrected. It says Alfonso now.
