Cool stuff.

Picking nits, Gaetti is older than Franco(though Franco obviously played at an older age. And Fernando Martinez and Andrus are older than Snider.

Younger?

Yeah I was wondering how it was all done. What is the vut off for oldest and youngest. If the guy gets in one game in 2000 is he eligible for oldest? Also what are the cut offs for minimums? Like the minimum at bats for avg or innings for era. Like Pedro's ERA of 3.01. There are a lot of relievers who probably got to 800-1000 and had a lower ERA. Heck Mariano had around 700 innings in the 2000's and ERA around 2.00.

Best and worst WHIP don't have names attached to the numbers

thx, I guess I got so excited about seeing a familiar name attached to one of those that I missed them

Pedro had a lower WHIP in the 2000's than the 1990's. Never would have guessed that. The other one that I like for a future trivia question is the who had the most quality starts of the 2000's. No one would guess Javier Vazquez.

Here is Walter Young, the 322 pounder

Frank Thomas if given real weight may have challenged that weight later in his career. What was Mo Vaughn at at the end?

Maddux had 134 wins in the decade. If he had pitched another season he might have caught up with Pettitte and thus would have led the past two decades in wins.

Quality Starts: Javier Vazquez - 193

If you'd have given me 20 guesses, I don't think I'd have come up with this one.

I would have guessed Roy Halladay.

Nah. I probably would have gone with Johan Santana, Brandon Webb, Roy Oswalt, John Lackey and maybe Schilling ahead of Pettitte. I might have even included Pedro in front of Pettitte as well.

What's weird about Vasquez is that he's had a few really solid seasons and a lot of mediocrity in between.

Vasquez is definitely a shocker, no doubt.

Of all those listed:

Oswalt - 185

Pettitte - 175

Santana - 156

Pedro - 149

Schilling - 144

Lackey - 138

Webb - 132

he just has a lot of years with a decieving era. i'm not sure if it's bad luck or whatever, but he has a lot of season where his era doesn't really match up with his stats. i know he gives up a lot of home runs, but still.

when you have a career WHIP of 1.24 and k/bb of almost 3.5/1 in about 2500 innings, you've had more than a few solid seasons.

Shutouts: Halladay - 14

The record for a season is 16 - I know it was 1916 but still.

How many quality starts did Halladay have?

As for Vasquez you can give up as few hits as you want but if they are all HR...
