The candidates include: interim manager Dave Clark, former skipper Phil Garner, minor league coordinator Al Pedrique, who became third base coach when Clark was promoted; former Brewers manager Ned Yost, San Diego hitting coach Randy Ready, former Arizona manager Bob Melvin, former Washington manager Manny Acta and current Boston Red Sox coaches Brad Mills(notes) and Tim Bogar.

I, for one, would welcome Ned Yost back into the NL Central.

The order most wanted by me:

Ned Yost

Manny Acta

Phil Garner

Bob Melvin

Dave Clark

Al Pedrique

Randy Ready

Brad Mills or Tim Bogar

The first 3 are known to be incompetent, with special nods to Yost and Acta, Melvin and Clark are not good, the last 4 I don't know much about and might be decent or good.

Is that the same Brad Mills that managed the Peoria Chiefs when Earl Cunningham and Ty Griffin were being "developed"?

Manny Acta is not incompetent.

I'm pretty sure Al Pedrique is.

After watching him for a year in Washington, he's not a good manager.

I'm not sure if Randy is quite Ready to be a major league manager.

haha!

He's definitely Ready. But he might not be prepared. :D

Somewhere, a Houston Chronicle baseball writer's head is exploding.

Also, this would be one of the worst places for Yost to go. He is the perfect manager for a young team because he will play them regardless (See, Weeks, Braun, Fielder, Hart, Hardy, ect..) and he will let them develop its probably the only good thing I can say about the guy, he will let young guys take lumps and still play them. However, he is terrible at everything else.

Oh please yes, a million times yes!

let's see, with Yost in Houston, and if Dusty stays in Cincy, the only thing better would be La Russa leaving Saint Louis. Yes!
