Wasn't just you. I think he just inadvertently mispronounced the second syllable ("peanits"), but yes, it definitely sounded like he wanted something extra with his Cracker Jacks.

 

I dont know, Vaugn seems like the type who would say it to see if he could get away with it. Maybe Favreu put him up to it.

It's funny I haven't checked the standings for a week...someone asked me last night how far the Cubs are out, and I told him I thought there were like 12.5 out of the division and 9 out of the Wild Card. Whoops.

In order for the Cubs to win either they have to go on an absurd tear, like 18-2. If they do that the teams that are nearby aren't keeping pace.

DLee is now 8th in baseball and 5th in the NL in OPS at .966. It just keeps going up.

 

If you took only his post-April numbers and compared them to everyone's full season numbers, his OPS (coming into today) would be 1.032, putting him 3rd in baseball. However, with his night tonight he might have jumped over Mauer for 2nd behind Albert.

I'm trying to remind myself that I'm going to be wishing there was baseball on during the middle of January, so I'm trying to enjoy these last 20 or so games, as meaningless as they may be. Its nice to see us heating up a bit. I'm a believer in momentum heading into next season.

As of tonight Cubs are tied with ATL and FLA in the loss column and possibly only 6.5 out of WC lead.
