Under Rothschild I wouldn't count on anything from Thomas Diamond, when one thinks of it, what pitcher has improved with his guidance? But, if Dave Duncan is done with Cardinals I'd like to see the Cubs replace Rothschild with Duncan. Diamond is just the kind of recycled pitcher Duncan' had great success in improving not to metion what he'll do with Zambrano and company.

Ryan Dempster and Ted Lilly wave hello.

What about Zambrano who's gotten progressively worse?

So now the bar is set such that nobody can get any worse?

You're right, it's more of me being PO'ed at such of shithole of season, looking up at team with about two good pitchers and bunch of recycled POS pitching out their collective asses.

You're joking, right?

In addition to those already noted, how about Matt Clement, Joe Borowski, Mike Wuertz (despite the fact no one ever wanted to give him much of a chance), Will Ohman, or even Randy Wells this year as pitchers who flourished under him? Wells, for example, was never supposed to be able to be a full time starter in the majors and keep an ERA much under 5.

Joe Borowski, 5.

I'm pretty sure that Borowski's miracle was steroids. He was out of baseball and pitching in the Mexican league when he found an extra 6 mph on his fastball.

I'm not a big Rothschild fan but I don't know how much a pitching coach really can help, outside of Duncan.

Diamond apparently made it through waivers:

Thomas Diamond, SP CHC

News: The Cubs outrighted former pitching prospect Thomas Diamond to the minor leagues. He had been designated for assignment.

Analysis: Diamond was once an elite pitching prospect before shoulder surgery derailed his career. He is no longer a viable long-term keeper league option, as removal from the 40-man roster tends to be a signal to the end of that status.

I like how they put a fantasy baseball spin on this. The 1 guy in the universe with Diamond on his fantasy team just started crying. Hahaha.

Good for the Cubs though. Hopefully he can have a solid winter of getting healthy and give the system something in years to come.

I'm a sucker for failed propsects, so I'm pretty happy to see this.

Ditto.
