Brett Jackson is back in the lineup tonight and scored on a Burke single in the 3rd, after getting hit by a pitch.

Daytona was postponed, but did finish the suspended game from yesterday.

Wasn't Colvin a top 100 guy following his first half season after being drafted? I seem to remember him being in the 80's or so. Just thinking that Jackson has been much better than Colvin was then. I'm starting to think that Brett will be top 100.

i'm not sure if colvin was a top 100 guy. BA had him at #3 in their cubs' top 30, but the cubs' system was in the bottom third of the league at that point. i guess he was borderline, though i think he was badly overrated back then - for a guy who started on an ACC squad for 3 years, .268/.313/.483/.796 in short-season ball combined with questionable ability in CF does not equal a very good prospect to me.

i think vitters, cashner, castro and jay jax are all top 100 prospects and brett jackson is probably just outside. my biggest concern is that his K-rate has gotten worse at peoria and his BB rate - still solid - has also eroded. i saw an interview with him where he suggested that he was trying too hard to hit for power his junior year and that's why his K's were up. i like his power at peoria but hope he can hit with some pop without his K rate becoming unmanageable.

I agree about Brett needing to keep his K's at a manageable level. That said, I think his season to this point is better than I possibly could have imagined honestly. I didn't want us to take him at all, but am to the point now where I am pleasantly surprised and definitely happy about the pick.

Is the pitching difference between the Midwest League and the Northwestern League enough to explain the dropoff in walks? I wouldn't think it'd be THAT much of a difference, but I could be wrong. As Truffle said anyway, he's still got a solid walk rate as it is.

Why are people so concerned with Jackson's strikeouts? He's taking walks and hitting for decent power. Why are the K's such a concern? Are K's worse in the minors than they are in the majors?

Ouch - Gaub gave up 3 earned runs in 1 inning pitched today.

Can we DFA both of them.

I think it is mostly due to the fact that making contact is his biggest weakness, or at least it was going into the draft.
