yes, sitting on the pine will fix everything. that's what he needs. now that he's at an all time low on the season, let's bench him so he can't turn it around for the rest of the year. that way we can assure his confidence is at an all time low heading into the offseason.

seems like a smart move

Seems like a smart move to keep sending him out there to go 0-4 with 2 k's and GIDP every game..

so you want to send out a guy who has been a little worse

Who's been better over the last month? Just answer the question.

This is a wake up call from the Cubs manageent to Soto. Nothing more, nothing less.

Exactly. However, god forbid a fan favorite get benched for crappy play. My goodness.

When Baker get back he should get the same promotion that Hill got. Fontenot has been as crappy this yr a Soto, thus he should be relegated to the bench like Soto.

No question about it.

Soto was horrible for the first 6 weeks of the year. Like, I can't believe this is physically possible to hit this bad horrible. This is mostly due to what I'm going to call the worst luck on balls in play in the history of the world. Since then he's hit .235/.333/.454/.787. If you want to bench him because the Cubs are done and you think his body will wear down in the next couple weeks, fine. But if you want to bench him because you want to "send a message", or actually prefer Hill get the at bats down the stretch, then this is a really, really dumb decision.

For the year he has a worse average than Hill with RISP. And since the ASB, my goodness are his numbers terrible. We're talking Aaron Miles terrible.

why does it matter? the cubs aren't making the playoffs. it makes no difference who is the hottest right now. and even if it did, soto is still the better bet to be the better of the 2 for the remainder of the season.

and like tt said, soto has been wayyy better since like mid may

i still haven't seen a single legit reason to start hill.

it would be fine to bench him if

a) the season still meant something

b) there was a better option to take his place

neither of those are true

a is still true to many people as we are only 5.5 back in the WC

And not surprisingly, you answer a question with a question. I ask you who's been better over the last month and you respond with a question.

Well done.

apparently you missed the part where i told you it doesn't matter who has been better over the past month

i'm still loling at ba w/ risp

I do not care, because I do not like AVG w/RISP. I do not like them in a house. I do not like them with a mouse. I do not like them here or there. I do not like them anywhere.

He has played in 2 weeks worth of games. Like I said, if you think he's hurting, fine, let him rest up. Otherwise, let him hit through the slump.

Oh, so Hill has been better, hence the benching? You don't say.

hill has not been better. you're choosing the last month because it suits your argument.

soto has been better for the season

No, it validates why Lou is benching him.

which is your argument. we're saying he shouldn't be benched, you're saying he should.

benching him because hill has been better over the past month would be ridiculously stupid, for all the reason we've already discussed.

Hendry better pay out the butt to get Henry Blanco back. Either as a player or a coach. Since he's the only one who Soto has seemed to connect with.

Those 10 AAA ABs Blanco had really had an impact on him in '07.

aramis fan, I feel like we are the only ones still holding out hope for this season. Except that new guy, KFB.
