For the love of God let this be Jay Jacksons last start in Daytona. He has nothing else to prove there, and hes sat in the corner for long enough now.

Do we know exactly what he did to get demoted?. It's hard to determine if it's been long enough unless we know what happened. And does it really hurt him somehow to dominate some A ballers? Is he going to gain anything meaningful with a 2-week callup? Whatever happened, they determined it was worth a demotion. If they were keeping a guy who could help the big club in the minors because of a relatively minor offense, I would be annoyed. But it makes little difference whether he's in AA or A+ at this point.

I'm sure he'll be up for the playoff push for Tennessee. I think anything more than a month is pretty severe for what he did.

Jackson was victimized by 3 errors(Vitters had one and Samson had 2), but still comes out with a line of 5 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 7/0 K/BB, 1 HR. Vitters went 0 for 4 to drop his Daytona OPS to an even .600.

David Cales finally got another shot at AA, and pitched an inning with 1 H and 2 Ks. Coleman started and went 5 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 4/2 K/BB, 1 HR.

Everyone contributing to Peoria's cause tonight. Jackson has a single, LeMahieu a double, Flaherty a triple, and Burke a HR through 5.

The corresponding roster move for Cales was Jake Muyco being placed on the DL.

A really nicely written piece on Austin Bibens-Dirkx. Not a fluff piece. It has his injury history, info about the Cubs scout that signed him, what he throws, and his potential future with the Cubs. Three pages long.

"I'm back to my old delivery, 3/4 or drop down like I did in high school and college," he said. "I'm getting good ball movement. The ball gets there quicker."

He said his fast ball is clocking between 90 and 92 mph, his drop down is 88-89, slider 78-80 and change-up 80-82. The latter has been his most consistent pitch.

"I can get my fast ball to run in on right-handers," he said. "I've broken a few bats. And I get a lot of grounders when I drop down. I have a little trouble with lefties if I leave the ball over the plate."

Because this is his fourth season in pro ball, he becomes a Rule 5 player this winter. He would be eligible to be taken by another organization in the Rule 5 draft in December if the Cubs don't protect him. For example, he could be drafted to play for an organization's AA or AAA affiliate.

"This year is kind of a crossroads for me," he said. "If the Cubs don't put me on their 40-man list, I would be eligible for other teams."

This would be true if the Cubs don't put him on their AAA (or AA) 40-man roster. He could be chosen in one of the minor league rounds.

As interesting as he is, I'm not sure ABD is going to register all that highly. Heck, I'm not sure if he'd even get picked.

He wouldn't be added to the major league 40-man, but he should be added to the AAA roster. Last year, we lost Mark Holliman and Yusuf Carter by not placing them on the AAA roster. We also lost Adalberto Mendez in 2007 to the Marlins in the AA draft.

i feel like everyone on peoria is either getting hits or striking out. they struck out 14 times tonight and still scored 7 runs; a couple of nights ago they struck out 9 times against the starter and still ended up with 14 runs or something.

i'm liking pretty much everything about hak-ju lee.

dae-eun rhee was a disaster - 0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 0 K.
