Yea, that's the best thing I've read on football in a long time. I actually felt like I learned a lot about the game, which I can't say for much of anything I generally read about football.

It was a great article and very informative - and I'm not even a Bears fan.

It actually reminded me of a show on ESPN that I used to watch all the time called - I think - "NFL Playbook" or something like that. It was a 30-minute show with, usually, Merrill Hodge and Ron Jaworski breaking down different plays from games as a means of previewing upcoming games (for instance, if the Bears played the Titans, they'd break down how Cutler might attack the Tennessee secondary based on how the teams had run plays previously).

It might've been the best show on ESPN, but it was on at like midnight or 1 a.m. I haven't seen it in some time, though.

That might be it. It had Hodge, Jaworski and Suzy Kolber (I think) hosting it.

Im not sure I see a reason to keep Davis. Cutler has zero trust in him, and hes shown in years past his hands are terrible. Keep the young guys, and let Davis go. The only thing Davis brings to this team is special teams, and hes nothing fantastic at that.

There would be a better chance of Davis clearing waivers as well. If so you can still stash him on the practice squad.

Davis can't go on the practice squad, I don't believe. Only players with less than an accrued season of NFL experience can be on one and Davis has been around for 4 years.

The practice squad shall consist of the following players, provided that they have not served more

than two previous seasons on a Practice Squad: (i) players who do not have an Accrued Season of NFL

experience; and (ii) free agent players who were on the Active List for fewer than nine regular season games

during their only Accrued Season(s).

I did not know that. Thanks for teaching me something today! :D

How are you a-holes not watching this in the age of dvr's?

Yes it's still on. Used to be Edge NFL matchup, then EA had the sponsor and it's been State Farm for a few years. The airtimes it gets and the fact that it has a sponsor in the show's title obviously means they don't believe it will draw ratings but it's been on 12-15 years or more. For a few years it's been Sal Paolantonio, Jaws and Hoge. And yeah it's probably the best show on ESPN.

It airs something like 1 a.m. on Sunday and then again at 6:30 central. I always set a season pass for it on my dvr and then watch it instead of the network pre-game shows at 11 or 11:30. I highly recommend you all do the same.

So after tonight, do you guys start the week 1 thread :)

You know it.

Well Jones might not get cut, but he still might not be playing depending on how bad that ankle is.

I only saw part of Sunday's game so far. How is Chris Williams looking?

Haven't noticed him, which IMO means he's looking great.

Any thoughts on how the WR battle is going after tonight?

Assuming the belief that the 2 draft picks are locks (and Knox definitely earned his way on the team tonight), here is how I have it stacked up in order of likelihood:

1. Hester

2. Bennett

3. Iglesias

4. Knox

5. Davis

6. Aromashodu

I think Aromashodu barely makes it over Rideau, although I was not impressed with his performance today. Hanie did overthrow him two times, but he also had a drop and didn't do a ton to get open. Personally, I'd love both of them to make it, but I think Cutler's slight preference for Aromashodu will give him the nod. Rashied Davis didn't even play today, which I think suggests that he's made it. Is it unprecidented to carry 7 WRs on a team? I would assume it is, because it's completely unnecessary to have 7 WRs, but maybe the Jones injury gives the Bears an extra week or two to decide who is staying long term.

Honestly, I didn't know that until yesterday. There was a discussion about what the Titans would do with Cory Lekkerkerker (real name) and I found that he couldn't be placed on the practice squad because he had accrued too much NFL time.
