his ops is up to .738

it would be the perfect capper to this nightmare season if he ended the year with an ops of like .800

speaking of cheap production from a former Cub OF, I just went to Fangraphs and saw today's article.

I know there's a split of opinion on the accuracy of defensive metrics, but I was surprised that UZR has him as average defensively, given the general feeling about his defense around these parts. And here we are paying $28m next year for our corner OF spots.

O's TV guys said that Pie has changed his stance or something like that FWIW. And since he has done that he is...

.359/.422/.692

And to think it was that easy..............

I hope he turns in a HOF career. I loved watching the guy in the minors and I think he really received a raw deal in the majors with the Cubs. The kid can flat out hit.

That's taking it waaaaaaay too far. I'm sure the Orioles and their fans would be happy with "serviceable".

So far in the second half. 325/384/597.

Traded him and signed Joey Gathright. Gave up on him after about 250 ABs.

Yeah, but he got a chance with the O's that he wouldnt have with the Cubs. Hed probably be a pair of spare legs, a late inning defensive replacement, and a bench bat behind Miles for us.

And to be fair, I think most people on here had given up on him too.

I don't think that's fair. I don't think most people on here had given up on him.

I had certainly reduced my expectations of him, but it would be a stretch to say I had given up on him.

Only the types who have also booed Bradley and think Soto should be benched.

i had given up on him getting a real chance with the cubs and was skeptical that he'd figure it out, but i hadn't given up on his potential because he was still young and, as someone has mentioned in this thread, has had problems adjusting to other levels. i can understand the cubs' impatience with him last year, since they were contending, but it would have been nice for them to give pie longer than about 4 games at a time before panicking and going to the fallback option of reed johnson.

sadly, there was a healthy contingent of people who were drooling over the idea of shipping him out of town for sinking ships like Khalil Greene

"Corey II" or some [expletive]. i think he got a Kerry Robinson comp, too

Apparently so many people at OH were ragging on him early in the year that every time somebody mentions him now it blows up into a big "I told ya so" fight... Despite being perhaps their most interesting topic of discussion right now, there are a whopping zero open threads about him.

Looks like not just Cubs fans are ridiculously short-sighted.

what are the orioles going to do with him?

they have

jones

nick m

reimold

pie

Reimold is the oldest and the worst defender of the bunch... not to mention how injury prone he is. I'd unload him well before I considered any of the other three.

Thankfully for the O's, they have the DH. Slide Luke Scott to 1B like they've been trying and DH Reimold.

i would get rid of scott before reimold, but i guess they do have some issues at first and third and short...yikes everyone besides BRob
