I just got two texts in a 3 minute span saying he had been DFA'd. Is this legit?

doubtful. very doubtful. Id assume that thyed take him out of the closer role and see how he does in middle relief long before theyd DFA him. The only other thing I could imagine is if they waived him for the sake of making a trade.

While that would be mildly humerous, I don't the Cubs are that dumb. Maybe remove him from the closers role, but not all out release him.

Manager Lou Piniella says the team has no plans to remove Kevin Gregg from the closer role.

 

"Why should I?," Piniella said. Gregg blew his second save in a span of 24 hours on Sunday against the Marlins, but has been very solid since May, including going a perfect eight-for-eight in save opportunities in July. The 4.17 ERA isn't pretty, but he's not going anywhere.

 

This just popped up on rotoworld, so I guess thats the end of that.

Maybe if there is another 1 run lead in the 9th go with someone like guzman? I don't know if I trust Marmol in the 9th, atleast not right now. Or just stick Gregg out there again. He has 2 straight bad days, I remember Dempster doing that in 2008 and they didn't release him did they.
