Yeah, no Cubs players have been going on offensive tears the last couple of weeks. Absolutely none. Zip, zilch, nada.

Ah, c'mon man, I think he's referring more to the pixie dust of guys like Piniero or Ludwick.

Oh, THAT stuff is is frustrating as hell, but getting worked up over a good hitter having a hot streak fresh off a trade doesn't really speak much to "pixie dust."

Matt Holliday is going to hit .650 the rest of the year with the Cardinals. 1-0 STL

Matt Holliday hitting like a world beater+Cardinals missing the playoffs=Matt Holliday playing for the Yankees or Red Sox in 2010.

That would be hilarious. Out Brett Wallace and they don't keep Holliday.

I'm referring to people hitting over .600 for over a week at a time.

All this said, Chris Carpenter is pitching, so Houston is probably not going to score any runs anyway.

Bradley should be batting 2nd in our order. He and Fukudome are walk machines.

You can debate the effectiveness of it, but I'd assume he's not because Lou doesn't feel like he can be a prototype #2 hitter. ie, protect the runner, bla bla.

Considering Matt Holliday is a FA and his agent is Scott Boras I say that is a distinct possibility. Not to mention I believe I heard LaRussa and Duncan are also "Free agents" this offseason.......

It's a hot streak. Talk to me when Holliday is hitting .325 by September 1.

Yeah, I doubt the Cards keep Holliday with the Red Sox and Yankees lurking. They'll get the 2 draft picks though.

Lou believes in olde thyme baseball nonsense (like "protecting the runner" and hit and runs) so yeah, that's why

What about Aramis and Soriano being as torrid as they have been since the break? Not .600 each but combined they're kicking the crap out of the world.

I bet you LaRussa and Duncan don't go anywhere. That would be the best thing that could ever happen to us if they do leave though.

Aramis definitely is. It's just frustrating, with STL now having three times as many legitimate hitters as they did three weeks ago, it's going to be that much harder to beat them.

Yeah it would be, and I agree I doubt they'll leave. But I have a gut feeling that had St. Louis NOT acquired Holliday then it could had been a real possibility.

True, but Holliday and DeRosa obviously won't stay at these levels. They're be useful and good hitters, but they can't keep this out. Soriano and Aramis won't stay at their levels but even just regressing to their expected levels I think still gives the Cubs the clear advantage.
