Marshall should start (best braves hitters are LH and Chipper is a SH). But Lou will probably go with Hart or Shark, which probably won't end well whichever one pitches. Edited by Cubswin11

Zambrano pitching tonight per Bernstein on the Score.

They called it a great fracture of the right big toe.

Just to clarify "great" isn't used as an adjective. He has a fracture in his great (big) right toe.

And no this isn't good.

Ah thanks...I was afraid I'd messed that up.

A broken toe? That can't be good long term, can it?

You'd think it'd be better that it's the Right toe rather than the left toe (his push off foot).

Where the hell did this come from anyways?

From Bruce Miles blog:

How about this? The Cubs just announced they’ve put pitcher Ryan Dempster on the DL with a “great right toe fracture.” That’s not so great.

Demp was supposed to start tonight, but Big Z will replace him. The Cubs have recalled Kevin Hart from Iowa to start tomorrow’s series finale with the Braves. Dempster is 5-5 with a 4.09 ERA in 17 starts. Hart was 0-0 with a 1.59 ERA in 4 relief appearances with the Cubs this year. He had spent part of this year as a starter at Iowa, going 3-3 with a 3.10 ERA.

Zambrano is going on short rest, as he pitched last Friday against the Brewers, going 7 innings and getting a no-decision in the Cubs' 2-1, 10-inning victory.

Of course, much more later.

Wouldn't his right foot be his push off foot?

I'm not liking the rest of this series if it's Z on short rest followed by Hart.

Why in the world would the Cubs have Zambrano start on short rest? Why not just pitch Hart tonight and Z tomorrow?

Maybe I'm using "push off foot" incorrectly as I'm referring to his lead foot but I guess there is strain put upon the foot that toes the rubber as well.

A righty pushes off with his right foot and lands on his left.

I'm not too concerned about performance tonight with Z on short rest, but I am worried about longterm implications.

eh, so we re arrange the roation a bit, and mix in 1 spot start between Marshall, Hart, or Shark. With the all star break coming up, it shouldnt be a big deal. If its more than that, than put Marshall back in the rotation and bring up Fossum as a loogy.
