“The encouraging thing is that they are monitoring him and keeping him on a pitch count,” Jeff Cashner said. “That shows that they have high hopes for his future and want to keep his arm in good shape.”

 

With Dayton Andrew Cashner’s limit was 65 pitches. He threw 78 in his first outing for Tennessee.

 

Tennessee manager Ryne Sandberg was fined and suspended 3 games for bumping into an umpire. He began his suspension yesterday. It was his 6th ejection of the season.

Anyone else love seeing the fire in Ryne?

 

It's getting very old.

 

I don't mind it. The sooner he gets out of the game, the less likely it becomes that cleanup hitters try to sac bunt early in the game.

What purpose does 6 ejections serve? The minor league umps are learning the job, everyone knows they aren't the best. It's not like he's going to prove much of a point.

Carpenter was solid before the rains hit Daytona: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K. Daytona leads it 1-0 in the 3rd during the rain delay.

 

Iowa up 1-0 on a So Taguchi HR. Heh, Casey Fossum has struck out 5 of the 6 guys he's faced.

The rain delay was 45 minutes.

 

I don't know what idiot authorized that, but when you have a guy with a long history of injuries, you don't screw around with him like that.

I know they add in the length of rain delays after the game is completely over so I was hoping it was just a short delay.

 

45 minutes is inexcusable, even if Carpenter didn't have the injury history that he does.

Too late now, but we should have just let him destroy A ball and prove he's done all he could there, rather than taking one month of amazing production surrounded by two average/subpar months and saying he was good. Again, there is absolutely no hurry.
