Francis didn't play a minute last season, yet earned $17 million left over from his 2007 buyout with Portland and another $2.6 million from Houston and Memphis, which waived him in January.

lol

that's like Albert Belle getting 37 million over three years from the orioles after he retired.

more like Mike Hampton getting paid by the Rockies and Marlins to not pitch for Atlanta

I wonder how come Aramis (15.65), Soriano (16) and Z (17.75) aren't on the list

It said candidates have to be US citizens. I'm assuming their absence means none of them have received citizenship.

doh, I completely missed that part.

That also explains why there is an overall lack of baseball players on there.

i knew tiger was a cash cow but i didn't think mickelson made nearly that much.

After watching golf on CBS, i realized he is on TV more then Tiger. The guy was everywhere.

Honestly, can I have Tiger Woods' life please? He's rich as hell, is the best golfer in the world, and is married to a ridiculously hot woman. So unfair.

He was on an Episode of Entourage for about 10 minutes.

Yes and no.

There's only one on the international list: Ichiro Suzuki

Just remember: No matter how hot a woman is, someone out there is tired of doing her.

I guess it wouldn't have been a surprise if I'd thought about it before, but the golf endorsement amounts were interesting. A sport played by people old enough to have money that requires hundreds or thousands of dollars of equipment for each participant.

Also, saying that it took until the 2007 season to think that Zito's contract was bad is ridiculous. It's so bad that I remember where I was when I heard about it (waiting to be seated at the Nick's Fish Market on Maui) and how I reacted (laughter)

Yeah, it had been three years since he'd been a very good pitcher and the three years before signing the contract he was barely above league average.

He got that Cy Young (even though Pedro Martinez and Derek Lowe were both significantly better than Zito was) and then everyone kept referring to him as a Cy Young winner. If he finished second in the Cy Young voting that year, there's not a chance in hell get even sniffs a 7/126 deal (or whatever it was). He still would have gotten a decent deal but it would have been something like 5/60 instead.
