Do you have any situational stats? What is he hitting with RISP, 2 outs, close games, late innings, that sort of stuff? I'd be curious to see how those numbers shake out. I don't get to see too many games, but it sure seems like he never gets the big hit in pressure situations when I'm watching.

Here's his baseball reference splits page, which will show you all of those stats (though I don't think they break down the situational stats by month).

so he's raking close and/or late, but he's been sucking w/risp

I wouldn't exactly call a .896 OPS with RISP "sucking"

Looks to me more like he's been walking with RISP, and with the score close. Which makes sense, especially when you look at the hitters that are typically after him these days.

true, but that's mostly because the small sample size (16 at-bats) makes the one home run inflate his slugging like crazy and because his obp is really good

the 3-16 is what i was looking at

BA with RISP is an overrated stat, IMO.

Overrated for what purpose? As a way of predicting how well he's going to hit in the future in with RISP, it's utterly useless.

As a way of determining how much value a player has provided in such situations, it's a reasonable proxy.

I mean, I'm pretty sure D-Lee is an .820-.850 OPS player, and that's just fine. It's nice that he's stepping up his game when we really need it.

Lee's BA crept about .290 for a bit today before finishing at .288. His OPS is now at .867, and his SLG is now at .502. He keeps this up and him, not Lilly, will be the Cubs All Star.

Pujols/Fielder/Gonzalez/Votto/Howard/Helton/Berkman disagree

Lilly's got to be an all-star. A 151 ERA+ is really hard to beat.
