Harden, rehabbing a strained back, had his start pushed back a day due to sickness. The other two Chicago Cubs on the disabled list - Ramirez and Freel - also could be minor league rehabbers

Might be Esmailin Caridad today and Rich Harden tomorrow.

I'm at the Peoria game right now. Anything I should know about Archer (scouting report, etc.)?

Good stuff(good fastball and nice curve, mediocre change), awful control.

Your right on about the control. He started the third by allowing a single, walking the next 2 jitters on 9 pitches and then hitting the next batter.

If you could get any velocity readings on Archer (and Huseby if he pitches, that'd be fantastic).

I wish I could...but the pitch speed thing at the park was turned off for some reason. Going by eye (which is horrible inaccurate so you shouldnt take anything from it), his fastbal definitely seemed crisp...maybe low 90s?

to think my coach always said that would weaken the legs

I went to the Chiefs game at Kane County today, saw some good and bad.

I know Archer's numbers were not pretty but see a lot of upside on the very young kid. I was down the third base line the first inning(he threw really well, little nub shot to lake only hit). So I went down behind some scouts the 2nd inning to see if I could see any readings(KC had their gun off) Archer was consistently 91-94, hit 96 three times and 97 once. He walked the first batter, the 2nd batter hit a fly out to right and Burke took such a lazy route to the ball that he missed it and the runners were on 2nd and 3rd no outs. Got a ground out, gave up a single, then a dp to end the inning. He had a rough third but struck out two to end the inning. Archer came back and had a solid 4th stricking out two.

Kreier didnt look sharp at all and his stuff was kind of flat.

I dont see any every day big leaguers on the team (PP wise) except for vitters.

I know Brenley is a non-prospect, but he had some really nice ABs today. The one in the 5th or 6th in particular where he worked the count full, fouled off 3-4 pitches, and finally dumping a ball into RF for a single.

granted he has a .377 BABIP, but darwin barney is having a nice year. his BB/K ratio is almost 1:1 and he's showing some gap power. i don't think anyone sees him as a good starting SS, but maybe he profiles as a guy similar to theriot, but with less speed and a better glove.

He's got 14 errors already on the season though, he had 21 last year when he posted a great TotalZone.

They were probably Cubs scouts (Bush, Fleita, and an area scout) enjoying the Sunday before getting everything ready for tomorrow.

I like Burke and Lake as well as Vitters.

Nope they are already in AZ, at least Oneri. First time We've been here as a Cubs team without any staff visitors. Tonight some of the front office (marketing people, corporate sales, box office, interns, etc) is coming down but as fans.

I agree on Burke and Lake, and don't sleep on Brenly and Flaherty who are both starting to click.
