At this point in the game it doesn't matter, but I am repeatedly surprised at how well some of the opposing teams lineup for our hitters up the middle. Maybe it is just seeing us always grounding out up the middle and not thinking of the ones that get through and then only seeing those balls that get through by the other team, but it seems to me that the defense is not lined up all that well for those hits in particular.

Christ has Soto been bad this year. What happened to this dude?

We should probably be seeing more Koyie Hill.

Well Hill does have the second highest OPS on the roster, while Soto has the second lowest OPS.

seems like his bat is just slower. he's watching a lot of pitches on the outer half and hoping to get bailed out by the umps.

it seems unlikely to me that it's a matter of the league figuring him out - he was plenty good last year, even the later part of the season. it may be that he just put too much weight on in the offseason and is back to being the mediocre hitter that he looked like every year but the two that he was in good shape.

I agree eventhough last year they had him 5 pounds heavier than this year (according to baseball reference and cubs.com).
