Interesting. I thought for sure Lous refusal to bat Scales at any point last night meant the end of the line for him. Top of the 9th when Miles batted would have been a perfect opportunity. Granted Miles got the job done, setting the table for Sorianos bomb, but still.

I realize that the decision was likely made a couple days ago, but when you're on the team for your speed and defense, and you come into a game and play two fly balls into XBH's late in the game, your days have to be numbered.

With Ramirez healthy and Scales replacing Gathright, Miles can hang around as a defensive replacement on a double switch. As long as he's not starting and since they have to pay him anyway he's as good as any other backup MI.

I feel like Gathright was more or less a panic backup move in case they didn't get Bradley. With the theory being that if they couldn't find that upgrade in RF, they'd have Joey/Reed platoon in center and maybe something like Kosuke/DeRosa platoon in RF.
